I don't know why people are saying we need to get a striker by tomorrow.
There's very little chance of a new striker starting against Norwich, when he doesn't know his team-mates, style of play, etc.
I think that Defoe is deffo injured ( like that?) and has been for a while. They'll try to get one more game out of him, while new striker is put in place. This complies with both theories: that hell be back by Wednesday (AVB theory) and that he'll be out for 4 weeks (ITK theory).

Very good points mate, but maybe don't apply so much to a striker? I say that because a 'striker' has (hopefully) only very minimal things to do..

1 - Find the back of the net if an opportunity arises
2 - If somebody is in a better position, ie a goal scoring position (Are you reading this JD?), pass them the fucking ball!!
3 - We are now fighting for the top 4 on a regular basis, so by sheer association, we are well publicised/televised. So I think that most pro footballers would know EXACTLY what style of play they're about to embrace?

Or there is option 4 - They've seen highlights of our games, seen our strikers miss chances galore & know that their task is to simply do what our other strikers seemingly can't do?

I'm off to look for my tin hat

Saha did okay for us. He scored 4 in 10. It's just that his time here coincided with the epic collapse. But it wasn't like he was to blame for that. I completely understand that he's not glamorous, but I don't like the knocks he gets. I think he worked really hard during his time here and I hold a lot of respect for him. I personally think we should have kept him as an option.

Whilst I agree that he did a good job I disagree that we should have kept him.

There's a reason why he's playing for some shit team now.

We need to bite the bullet and take a gamble...

Just buy a fucking striker.

I reckon that AVB was telling the truth regarding Defoe yesterday and that he should have been fit for Wednesday.

But then our medical staff got their hands on Defoe today......

Not sure about the theory that prices for strikers will automatically go up if other teams see we have none available. Sure this would work with a chairman who is obviously desperate to bring in another striker because of an injury crisis, but remember this is Levy we are talking about. He's made it clear in the past that there are very few situations where we'll feel that the only option left is we HAVE to buy someone. He's shown that he's more than happy to carry on with what we've got even in difficult circumstances rather than immediately turn to the transfer market to solve a problem. Other chairmen will recognize this. Levy's different you know ;)

We all know Levys business is done from a financial viewpoint and not a team viewpoint coopsieyid.....it doesn't make sense why he does it in the last minute.......

I mean look at last year if he would have just spent 15million on a decent striker then we could have got champions league football and all the benefits of it, instead he waited until the last minute, desperately signed Saha because we were short and Saha wasnt up to the job, which Everton knew anyway, hence the reason they let him go for free.

You get what you pay for, if you want top 4 you have to buy better strikers at market value, interestingly us and Arsenal dont have great strikers and thats what holds us back.

Look at the top 10 strikers in the league IMO and tell me where Defoe or Giroud would place
1- RVP 2-Suarez 3-Aguero 4-Rooney 5-Tevez 6-Chicharito 7-Dzeko 8-Ba 9-Michu 10-Berbatov

Lets be honest even Benteke, Cisse, Jelavic, Balotelli, Welbeck, Fletcher and Sturridge have a case at being better than what us or the scum have.

Aaaarrgh! 3 of them play for United, and 3 for Citeh. That should definitely tell us something ( or is it just that they are good teams and make loads of good chances?).

nedley mate, I couldn't agree more (re the bit in bold).. The thing is, we have a bit of a problem mate... The guy who most certainly IS NOT a striker and should never have been seen as one has, over the past 10 games or so, out performed both of the current 'strikers' in goals and assists :(

So imagine that with a proper striker playing in front of him scoring too...

We're gonna blow 4th place, I can absolutely feel it in my piss.

I got the same feeling. Last year still hurts. And we had a bigger points lead over the Scum.

We need some serious ITK. Where is the Journalist? Haven't heard from the dude in ages. ITK now P.L.E.A.S.E

From another perspective, look at last year and without spending 15 million on a decent striker we could have got champions league football and all the benefits of it if Chelsea had not won the champions league. Tomayto, tomahto.

I agree with you that the possible revenues lost over time by not having a top, top striker (as to be fair Ade and Defoe are not that bad) sure look small opposed to the cost of buying such a striker. I think you hit the nail on the head with your comment though as we appear to be a very financially risk adverse entity.

Well I am sure we will buy a forward now but I doubt it will be the right one, more of a panic buy type. :(
