VDV left because of bad start with AVB?

VDV can say what he likes, but we all know that Harry had his favourites and indulged them.

I'm actually pleased that Villas Boas operates like this as it creates a more harmonious squad and a chance for everyone.

We've shown we can survive without VDV and for all the fanboy love, he wasn't a Hoddle and despite his many great moments his role often inhibited other players and inbalanced the team.

*ducks*
Fuck. You. :finger:

I agree with most of what you say though.

The articles is mostly direct quotes. You can trash VdV for saying them, should you be so minded, but not the article.

The article is pointing in a direction that is not exactly what he is saying, you fell for it by accusing AVB of making a mistake, although you have a reason for doing so.

That was then, this is now. He has gone, we are still 3rd. Maybe AVB was right.

Bearing in mind the fee we had, his injuries this season and the problems in his private life, I feel the timing of his departure was just about right.

Please lets bear in mind that Bale has, IMO, benefitted from VDV leaving as he has now got the free role.

He was great for those two seasons though :)

Haha very brave! He was so much more than the sum of his great moments though. Time after time he represented the heart and soul of the club. I agree that from AVB's perspective he may have represented an awkward luxury of sorts, but his biggest contribution to the team was not something that could be measured in stats alone.

Smacks of bullshit to me. He contradicts himself in the article and even the article writer says he thinks it's a bit disingenuous. Leaves to be near wife. They split up. He feels a bit of a twat.

If he left because AVB said he would be treated like everyone else then that would make him an even bigger prick.

Loved watching him, understand why he left but lets not be silly.

I still love him. He still loves the club. Chuffed I got to see him wearing our shirt and tear many a team a new one. Just read the article - I took a brave pill. All fair enough really. VDV even says that before the move happened AVB had seemingly made moves/noises that he wasn't exactly holdind the door open for VDV to walk through after the initial period but that VDV had already decided, for whatever reason, in his own mind to move.

Doesn't seem to be any malice or ill-feeling there form either side. But hey, that wouldn't have created chit-chat on their site or this and other Spurs sites I imagine.

I think some are, there has already been fingers pointed at AVB.

Well that's ridiculous. I just read them and thought it was weird, but with most things that happen behind closed doors - we'll not know the exact details, so its futile to speculate really - so probably wasn't worth posting, was just curious as to how others interpreted them because it felt a little contradictory.

AVB didn't have the best start. Transfer listing Dawson was another mistake. Then there were the formation problems.

Luckily he's come good so hopefully that's all behind us.

It would have been stupid for AVB to unsettle VDV. Hope he's learn't his lesson.

disturbing coincedence but we were 3rd 4 points ahead of arsenal this time last season.

But it seems Adebayor has not.

Who cares why or who was involved in VDV leaving. Not getting in a replacement until this Jan left a glaring hole in squad though and was the entire problem thrown up by his nibs going to hamburg. Now why don't you run along and try and pin that on AVB. You're itching to it seems.
