League is very very very important at the moment, but only 4 games away of a major final with the chance of glory.

--------------------------Friedel-------------------------
Walker----Caulker---------------Verty-----BAE-------
---------------Dembele---------Carroll-----------------
--Lennon--------------Bale----------------Sigurdsson--
-----------------------Defoe------------------------------

Subs: Archer, Dawson/ Gallas, Naughton, Livermore, Holtby, Dempsey, Adebayor.

Try to get every goal we can in the first leg, Basel won't be an easy place to go as I remember our terrific trip to Bern were we went 3-0 down very early.

I'd like that team but it's not going to happen. Parker will be ahead of Carroll and Naughton probably ahead of BAE. Unless Parker has a suspension I'm missing or something? Also, AVB is probably more likely to pick Livermore than Carroll even if Parker is out for whatever reason

Yea I think Livermore will start over Carroll, but whether he starts over Parker I'm not sure. Parker could do with a rest, but I got a feeling he will start.

every "team vs latest europa opponent" thread has people putting out 2nd string teams and saying how we'll rest all of our important players. i thought people would've learnt by now that that's not going to happen. caulker may play instead of dawson, that's about it.

Friedel
Naughton Gallas Vertonghen Ekotto
Parker Carroll Dembele
Lennon Striker Bale
Subs: Archer, Dawson, Caulker, Livermore, Holtby, Ceballos/McEvoy/Fredericks, Striker.
If Lloris is fit then would play him.
Think that will be the back four, based on the Europa games so far.
4-3-3 please.
Carroll in alongside the other two.
Ade, Defoe and Coulthirst can play rock, paper, scissors to decide the starting and bench spots.
Please balance the bench AVB: One centre half, one plodding midfielder, one AMC only. Here's a revolutionary thought, how about a wide option?

Really looking forward to this. We have a chance of making a European semi-final for the first time since I became a Spurs fan (1990 if you must know). It's also vital for building up some momentum for the league by picking up another win.

1st leg is at home no?

Full strength team, murder them, get some confidence for sunday and ideally rest players then for the cold trip in switzerland and play a bit of a brick wall team

------------Friedel

Kaboul*---Gallas-Caulker--BAE

------Livermore-Huddlestone
--Holtby----Carroll----Dempsey
-------------Defoe

(*bit of a run out for 45 mins)
thats my away team btw

Well must look for a clean sheet and a good home win. Can see Willy G playing, and if he needs a game, would rather see him in the home leg with less to do than a tricky away leg..

Could be a good time to get Kaboul in at RB while Walker Is out to build up his fitness..

I'd go for...

Friedal ( Lloris is out yes?)

Kaboul Gallas Verts Benny

Carroll Dembele Siggy

Lennon Bale Defoe

Subs: Ade / Parker / Caulker / Naughton / Archer / Holtby / Dempsey

You'd think people would get the gist of that by now!

I for one welcome a fixture congestion now as it means we are reaching the business end of the season and are proving successful - plus, if you are winning matches then realistically you can take any fixture pile up head on with confidence.

As for the team, I'd imagine we'll plump for the following;

Friedel

Walker Dawson Vertonghen BAE

Parker Dembele

Lennon Bale Sigurdsson

Adebayor

I can't see any real left field switches by AVB but what will be interesting is who and how he utilises his bench which I hope includes Carroll who I'd like to see get game time.

Go for the throat early doors. Fast start is vital and if we can get a couple and even add to that we might just get into a position to think about the league game on Sunday. Keep Dawson for the physical threat from Everton, he's been playing Willy G in the Europa anyway.

Forgot about Gallas so yes, I agree with your rationale.

Now's not the time to be resting players. Gallas needs a rest though, I suggest the rest of his life.

Strongest possible side for me. I have gone on record many times saying how much I would love us to win the thing, and the best teams need to be able to compete on a minimum of 2 fronts.

Doubt Lloris will come back in but daws and Vertonghen are a must.
