Two players who's Spurs careers haven't taken off yet, Lewis Holtby; the bargain buy, the German u21 captain and our potential answer to our creativity woes, and 'Gylfi' the £8 million icelandic international who we snatched from the grasps of Liverpool. However after a couple of appearances with exciting potential, the German seemingly fell out of favour, he started finding himself more often than not on the bench. I must admit I was disappointed after watching a lot of games of him for Schalke where he looked the dogs bollocks in the number 10 role. AVB seemed to prefer Gylfi.
Gylfi Sigurdsson is a player I've tried to to keep faith in for a while, a very long while, this is mainly because of his great stint at Swansea and that he has been played out of position for us, as his preferred position is in the middle. To be fair to the lad he has been unlucky with various shots hitting the post and bar which if had gone in earlierha sooner than later, might have seen him play with a bit more confidence and fluidity for us. However after watching game after game hoping for a consistent good Gylfi Sigurdsson I've given up, this might sound harsh but the palace game did it for me. He just didn't look good enough, with the likes of paulinho and soldado, soldado didn't get any service from Gylfi at all, he also lacks pace and the tendency to fade out of games which we don't want from our 'creative player' as he meant to make things tick. If you asked me or many other fans if Gylfi Sigurdsson is good enough for a club challenging for the champions league, the answer would be No.
I really hope lewis gets given more game time as for me he has a fantastic potential, I may be being too harsh on sigurdsson but IMO i wouldn't have minded if Chelsea had came in and stole that deal instead.
I also love how Lewis is so passionate when he plays, even for the u21s I saw photos of him showing more desire than most first team players do, that attribute can be nothing but good for a team.
COYS!
