I never like to get on the back of any of our players. There must be two Gylfis, the one that plays like Messi in training and the one which looks a mess in the games.

AVB will know best - I dont see Gylfi surviving.

Holtby has underwhelmed also. His debut was so promising.

They do both have a role to play and Siggy looks a bit lost at the moment so my preference right now would be for Holtby to start and Siggy on the bench with a little playing time if possible to try to build up his confidence, depending on how the game is going.

It's too early in the season to write any player off.

Holtby scored a belter (apparently) last night for the u21s. Hopefully he'll be back soon. Just like to add that, though obviously the comparisons are football based, his personality seems bigger and he's a good leader so I think he'd make a good future captain.

Holtby is technically a far superior player to Sigurdsson. He hasn't settled here yet, but was unbelievable for Schalke. Part of the problem was Bale occupying the the number 10 role and Holtby being shoved out-wide negating his ability to link play, pick out runners coming down both channels and roam to find gaps.

If we are really interested in Pjanic or Eriksen (Eriksen would be my choice of the two), I think Siggy is certain to go to allow us to have the choice between two DMs (Capoue and Sandro), box to box midfielders (Dembele and Paulinho) and play-makers (Eriksen and Holtby).

Holtby will be class. He just needs movement in front and around him to get the most out of him. He's not the kind of guy who does much running or shooting on the ball. He's the kind of player that enables others to do it. Modric was the same, if he didn't have movement in front of him he looked very average. Holtby even if he's not hit form, you can tell he's reading the game a second ahead of the others on the pitch.

Holtby only joined in Jan and that was a rushed transfer to bring him in to cover injuries. Shame he's injured and hasn't got a full pre-season in, but once fit I believe he'll be one of the break-out stars this term.

Sigurdsson is never going to be great, either for us or for anybody else. he's a decent but limited footballer with a decent shot on him, that's about the sum of it. the slowness of his game is what does it for me. he has no pace, and he takes an eternity to either make up his mind or execute. his passing also leaves a lot to be desired, and if you take away his ability to shoot, what exactly is left? not a great deal IMO.

I just can't stop scratching my head in utter bafflement at those who have been championing him over Eriksen, what is it they're seeing that I'm not? he's not a Premiership quality #10, he never has been, and he almost certainly will never be.

Holtby on the other hand will be very good once the manager has properly figured out his role in the team and gives him a run.

Slightly harsh in that he was quality for Swansea. Obviously is a confidence player and needs the right set up around him. I think he'd be great in Serie A.

was he actually quality for Swansea, or was it just that he scored 7 goals or however many it was? it's a genuine question, as I didn't really see a lot of his games there, just the goals mainly.

sig should be competing for one of the deeper midfield positions at spurs.
as a 10, possibly but at a different club with another style and attitude.
holtby is quality, a cross between keano and tainio:ninja:
