2 wins, but lacking creativity

We're Titanium right up until the final third.

Soldado looks sharp but doesn't look big enough to play up on his own. Our wingers are good but not world class.

Ideally we need a Midric, VDV, Bale type who can create a but of magic.

I agree with the creativity point. Very happy to win 2 but we haven't scored from open play and a few times I've noticed a sideways pass when a through ball would've been so much better.

Would like to see Chadli take people on or get in a position for a quick cross. Townsend is exciting but if we do sign Lamela, I'd expect Townsend (and probably Lennon) to make way.

This is why it's so disappointing to lose Willian. He and Lamela behind Soldado would've been amazing. We need a creative assistmonger whether it be a vdV/Modric type or a wing wizard. The team are full of fight & spirit, which is extremely pleasing but we desperately need the creativity to complete the team. I look forward to this week & hope we get the right players in.

Our wing play was very good today, and we created a lot of chances, but yes we need more threat centrally. I think Dembele is most at risk in this respect, and it seemed at time that he was playing on the left to allow Chadli to come inside in a 4-1-4-1.

Capoue is looking a great DM, Paulinho looks a great box to box midfielder, that leaves a space for either a no.10 or a playmaker no.6. Dembele isn't doing either of them, and often plays a pass and hangs deep, which is not needed when the opposition is playing a false 9.

But its harder to get the central attack working (other than hitting the big man) as it requires a lot more invention, a lot more cohesion, but I'd like to see both CMs to take turns to get into the box

We created plenty of chances, we just didn't take them. I agree we need to get Soldado into goal scoring positions more but I'm not sure we lacked creativity per se

If we replaced Dembele with Holtby or Carrol, that would solve that problem. If AVB wants to keep the central midfield as it was today, then we need a creative winger to create chances. Willian probably would have been perfect for this.

Its a funny old game. Last year we were crying out for someone to finish off all those chances created by our wingers, this year...

I personally can't see how anyone is going to score against us ever again so am not too worried ;)

Soldado is in danger of being wasted if we can't provide more service to him. Chadli and Townsend will no doubt improve, but we are ready to succeed now, we need two more creative players (Lamela + A.N.Other) IMO.

I thought we created a lot of chances but weren't able to take any of them. Swansea also played a pretty defensive game.

We'll get more space against Arsenal and if our midfield and defense are as good as they were today I can't see us losing.

It's fucking ridiculous. They look like they've only played a couple of games together or something. Joke.

Oh wait.

Nice to have a bedding in period in which we still win games in. Terrible that. I might throw my ST away in disgust.

Give them a fucking chance will you? Jesus.

There is no doubting the fact that we manned the midfield today. Capoue was a man amongst boys, Paul looked dangerous and has such great close control, but the man that hasn't brought it for me is Dembele.

I love the man, but he can't play in the hole behind the striker. He just lacks the balls to make that pass. I don't want to take anything away from him, but he is facing real competition. He might find himself behind the likes of Paul, Capoue and Sandro if we are to get an Erikson in or something. Love the man, but he needs to start playing some through balls. I know he has it or I hope.

Love the fact that we have a beast up top. Soldier is going to be the answer to a lot of our problems. We just need to get him the ball. I can remember seeing him making runs off the shoulder of the CD, but no one looked for him. He is stuck posting people up and trying to hold the ball up. Can we just piss all over liverpool and take Coutinho?

I don't think our wing play was very good tbh. I don't remember many crosses coming in, nor fullbacks getting beaten.

Chadli did ok defensively though, I will say that. Got back a fair bit. You can tell though, he doesn't believe he can beat a player directly.

Our defensive setup is what is going to win us league points imo. If we can create 7-10 chances on target each game then we are bound to score. With two wingers cutting in and getting into the box we are likely to get more penalties.

And let's remember, until Bale actually goes he is still our player. And when he does go we will have shit loads of money to re-invest. If we were to lose Bale and not bring anybody in then we would need either Holtby, Sig, Dembele or even Chadli or Carroll to step up as the creative man. But I can't see that happening.

£26m poacher and I can remember one attempted through ball. That needs to improve.

Most expensive penalty taker in our history. Takes them bloody well though. On another couple of games with different refs we'd have 2 points from 2 games now

Need to find that player that can unlock the door and start threading a few balls through. Hoddle was their today, how much would Saldado have enjoyed playing with Glenda!!!

People seem to have very short memories, last season with Bale we struggled to break down teams that defended deep and before that with VdV and Modric we still struggled. Why ? Contrary to the accepted wisdom on SC that the way to create is by having one or more magical players with "guile" who play a killer pass the reality is that the best way to beat teams defending deep is with great movement. The players of last season and before lacked the physical attributes and technical capabilities to play a fast moving game. I think AVB has largely fixed that now, no doubt Lamela and other arrivals will help but the most important aspect of developing a fast paced high movement game is time on the training pitch and in games and they haven't had that yet. The fact we can win points and avoid conceding goals while they develop this is very encouraging.

Stop the moaning, the season is a marathon not a sprint. COYS
