I am starting to like this guy more and more now. He still got way to go but wouldn't mind at all if Spurs took a gamble on him. However, it looks as if he's best utilized in a 4-3-3 formation, playing wide. Him on the left, Bale on the right and a quality CF plus a quality "play maker" could make Spurs a challenge to top teams (at least if Spurs remain fairly injury free).

Yup agree.

Benfica just sign Markovic.... so hopefully they are willing to offload him.

A quick wiki-fu tells me that Markovic is a second striker, and only 19 years old.

Judging by how good Lima and Cardozo have been for them this year I very much doubt they'll sell either of them and want to break up their partnership. So it does sound like they could have got him in as a replacement for Rodrigo.

Struggled at Bolton, but that was two years ago, and he's only young I guess. Can't say I know much about him, but he seems to bang them in for Spain U21

YES PLEASE!

Benfica signed a winger (Markovic) and a striker (Funes Mori) so far this season, so he could be available

Take him on loan with an option to buy at a pre-agreed price would be the pefect deal, see if he can make it in the Premier League second time around, with more experience, with a team that passes the ball.

Not that such a deal would ever happen, but would minimise any risk.

Yeah, it's reassuring to see such positive reviews of him. I looked him up and saw he spent a season at Bolton and only mustered 17 appearances, which made me a bit... *raises one eyebrow*

Will be good as a backup to Soldado. Would prefer Hulk, Hernandez, Damiao etc but would still be happy.

Only got one goal in 17 too

I'll put trust in people who have seen him play. Tho if he was English and without a fancy name I fear he'd be written off by many on here already

4 starts and 13 appearances (Premier League) off the bench at Bolton, with 1 goal and 1 assist. Not great but he was 19 and Bolton isn't exactly the kind of place I'd imagine a young foreign striker to excel. Also, he was played primarily as a winger/wide-forward, IIRC, rather than an out-and-out striker.

If you look at his page here on Transfermarkt you can see that he only got 502 minutes worth of EPL play time at Bolton. 5 and half games worth isn't really a lot of time to establish yourself. However, it's worth noting that Bolton tried to re-sign him for £4mil, but failed, so they must've been impressed with him.

He's definitely improved since them and may be well worth a punt.

Dunno, if it was a Championship striker that had banged in 15 goals in 16 U21 caps for England,
I think most on here wouldbe jizzin in their pants.
Then again, Francis Jeffers did 13 in 16 back in his day

Ha don't think they would somehow

Look at the almost total disinterest in Gary Hooper

Yes by everyone except Narge. Not sure you're proving your point there, gp. :)

Ha I think Hooper trumps Jeffers

But my point is: I know nothing about this guy and will treat him thus

It just makes me laugh that when we're linked with guys with exotic names, lots of people wet themselves despite knowing nothing about them

Sure there's still some convinced Falque will be a world beater for similar reasons

Hooper is 25, Rodrigo is 22.

Hooper was linked in Jan as our only striker signing, Rodrigo is linked after we've signed one of the best strikers in the world.

Yes, to reiterate your point, he was only 19 then (and he's still only 22).

Rodrigo (who's a Brazilian-born Spaniard btw) would be an excellent acquisition imho. He's got an awesome football pedigree. His cousins Thiago Alcantara (Bayern) and Rafinha (still at Barca AFAIK), plus their dad (Rodrigo's uncle) - Mazinho (who used to play DM for Brazil NT, and eventually became manager), are all testaments that footy is in his blood.

If we could get him (provided Eriksen is good as done that is), and Alvaro Vadillo, we would have (arguably) one of the top 3 attacking tridents (or quadrants) in the PL.

And your point is?

Harry Kane's only 20, why don't we persist with him? Scores like wildfire in U21s too and he won't cost us £10m

Think the money's going to everyone's head. Lets buy all of the players!

The fact we're talking about £10m punts now. Gone up from the £5m punts of old *waves at GDS*

As I say, I know nowt about him
