15 goals in 16 Spain under 21 games, that's all I need to know. I do remember him at Bolton and was always very good. He wasnt used as a striker, so was unlikely to score many. Especially when the ball was in the air for 400 mins out if his 500 on the pitch!

Nobody wanted to trust a Scot called Hooper. Or an English guy called Kane. But they're happy to cream themselves over guys called Falque, Dos Santos, Taarabt and Rodrigo

I'm slightly taking the piss, and you seem to have seen the guy a fair bit so all power to you, but I haven't so I won't quite get excited just yet. But if he's ok with AVB, he's ok with me

At the risk of coming off as an ignorant fool here, I thought Hooper was born and raised in Loughton (Essex, England)? And everywhere I've ever read (in the last several years) refer to him as an Englishman. Or is he still a Scot by nationality?

Anyone would think I was plucking nonsense out of my arse?

You're right. And it actually adds to the silly point I was making, so cheers

Hahaha...! Thanks for the WTF (above), pal. I set myself up, so that settles it. I am an ignorant fool.
Thanks a bunch.

Chicharito or Rodrigo (going by last few ITK posts) as second choice behind Soldado. Am I dreaming? This window just gets better and better. All 3 of those would have been on my list at the start of the window but I wouldn't have expected any of them.

For what it's worth there is nothing at all relating to Rodrigo in today's Portuguese sporting press; and everyday they devote several pages to Benfica & its players.

Rodrigo is a class choice, in my opinion. He's young, affordable, and keen to play in the premier league. I think this deal might go ahead. Soldado and Rodrigo are two players that can score as easily as Defoe, but we need new strength in our ageing squad. Bale, ade, Defoe out... Lamela, Rodrigo, Eriksen in.

People were creaming themselves over a welsh lad called Bale iirc, enough did over Walker early on and as far as Taaraby goes the only person who really creamed himself was Commoli and he had to, most fans appreciated the skill and didn't appreciate the lack of team play and attitude

I really haven't seen much of Rodrigo to comment either way but I think it's very easy for people to cart out this line about foreign players attracting more praise, whereas in reality potentially good players will attract praise regardless of if they are Spanish, Welsh, Scottish or English, some won't realise their potential and sadly it seems that England are maybe not producing the same amount of quality as in the past or maybe it's simply that the world is opening up to more players and so the standards are getting higher

Right now there are a few really exciting talents like Shaw, Hughes and Barkley coming through, they may prove top players in time they may not, but enough people think they have great potential even the ones that supposedly cream themselves at every Carlos Kickaball

It's about time this whole nonsense was put to bed, there are promising players but the competition is far greater now

Those are 3 very good goals. Great shooting, great touch and great positioning. Knows how to keep himself onside, run off the defenders shoulder and has the burst of pace to get away from them. Reminds me of a young RvP. I'd love to bring him in as a second striker to Soldado, he'd learn so much from him.

Yeah, the good thing about him is that he comes from decent experience at Benfica so if we needed to rely on him to lead the line I do think he could do it. The added versatility to play out wide is a huge bonus as well.

I think this is what sells it. There's a few good young strikers out there but with the system that we've got we may need to switch things around. AVB likes versatile players.

This sums up exactly why I'd like this guy to be our last buy of the summer. Along with a loan for Balz from Roma, this would make wrap us up to being a remarkably complete squad.
