Also, I think I hate Walker. All the attributes but no clue whatsoever. AVB running half way down the pitch to tell him how to take a throw without fucking it up sums him up as a footballer and as a human being.

I don't think Paulinho should be starting . and from what I've seen of him in the last 3 games he was a little overpriced.
If I had a say I'd go back for a Dembele - Sandro duo like last season with holtby , sigurdsson or eriksen in front of them.
Dembele and Sandro were the best midfield in the league . even in our worst games last season we kept possession much better than this.
we learned that Dembele is not good in an advanced position. He should go back to where he shined last year. No way paulinho is worth getting him out of position.

To early to make those sorts of judgements in my eyes, the guy has been in the country a matter of weeks. Give him a break!

I think Arsenal deserved to win but what worries me is no goals from open play.

The same problems are there from last season in that our movement is sub standard.

I also don't believe in this 4-3-3 formation. We if we're playing one up it has to be 4-2-3-1, especially with Soldado. I said after the Palace game that he will end up a very frustrated figure if we stick with 4-3-3.

We can play 433 but it 100% needs Dembele out and Eriksen, Holtby or Carroll in to actually feed the front 3 early. The whole point of a 433 is that you get the ball forward to the wide men early and they beat their man. That means no Chadli and no Dembele.

don't forget it took Sandro at least 1/2 season to settle in after moving from the Brazilian League - there is quite an adjustment to make before we see the best of him. He has already shown some quality.

Really pissed off with both performance and result. That said...... cant blame AVB for sticking with a winning team. Would have liked to have seen changes earlier, but we weren't exactly struggling to get the ball or keep it. Final 3rd we are lacking, but jeeeeeeese, patience peoples. It will come good, Chadli was the only real negative for me, reminded me of jenas- could do soooooo much better. Arse*al fans best buy the dvd as its going to be a fucking long time before they win another nld. They bang on about the shadow, we have the fucking eclipse and its heading to N5.

I was wrong. We cannot play paulinho and dembele together or sandro and capoue. They're too similar to each other. Its got to be paulinho and sandro with holtby or eriksen (creator) in front of them. To those of you who knew that already, sorry it took so long to sink in..!

Also, Dawson will never fit this system. So poor today. He just doesn't have the skill or pace. But I'd worked that one out already. ;)
I still think Paulinho should be more advanced. I didn't like seeing Dembele play further forward. Although I'm interested to see how Eriksen can do in there.

Boy were we lacking creativity.

Soldado was isolated because our two inverted forwards simply didn't play to his strengths. Townsend and Chadli to a lesser degree play with their heads down and I lost count of the number of potshots we had from outside the box.

We'll be fine when Lamela hits his stride and Eriksen is playing.

Aside from that, I thought that was the most controlled performance I can remember at the Emirates.

Kaboul cannot get fit quick enough.

They were absolutely the better team and the reason being is that they got their tactics right.

They were pressing us fucking hard from the get go and as usual looked fairly dangerous on the break.

They didn't actually look as dangerous as they usually do against us at the Emirates so that's fairly reassuring, and once Eriksen and Lamela become fully integrated with the side I think we'll be ok.

But it wasn't unlucky that we lost today. Seriously.

Someone talking sense

I repeat. It's virtually their first time playing together. Especially in NLD. Give the guys some slack. In time, I'm sure they will get a sense of the occassion. We will become the better team. IN TIME. Most Arse players hate us. Half our team haven't yet developed that passion. Good grief people.

How much more "sense of occasion" does Dawson and Rose want?

I can't watch matches for you, and I'm not anoraky enough to keep files/notes.

From what i have seen of Holtby he looks very good, plenty of energy and pressing and i would have possibly given him a start today, simply for his obvious passion and energy. Every game i have seen him play he constantly wants and shows for the ball.

Dawson has a big heart but that's not enough at this level. He was awful today and him and Vert just did not play well together today. The team is still gelling offensively but we should have cracked it defensively by now.

Soldado was so poor today. Defoe came on and showed him, yes showed our 26m striker, how to run and collect the ball and actually put some effort in. You want silver service, Rob? Where were you two years ago.

Got to put a shift in whilst playing in a Derby.

Not sure about your Paulinho comments but defo agree about Sandro and Dembele, they were great last season and we should give it a go again.

Dawson won't be starting too many more games will he? Please say no...love the guy but not good enough, Giroud won everything against him.

For me Dembele is quickly playing his way out the team. So predictable!
Chadli needs to improve because what I've seen these 3 games just won't cut it in the Premiership. Little flicks here and there and no end product.
AvB with two poor subs as well. Lamela should have come on for Chadli and Holtby for Dembele.
The shape was fine just lacked creativity. Defoe for his good finishing wasn't going to create much

Townsend looked blown out after 15 minutes, continually exposed Walker. Disappointing result but that's the 1st time we've dominated possession at the Emirates. We still look ponderous going forward, hopefully Eriksen will change this.

Lamela looks decent and Rose was much better today than I anticipated he would be. Hugo was MoM and a boss. We miss someone to use the ball intelligently and quickly.

I said it the other day in another thread, but this NLD came a month too early for us.

Still gutted we didn't win, but not surprised.
