So much bloody negativity on here. Chill out! 3 games in and people are in melt down! This is always a tough game .. We lost .. Get over it !

Lots of new guys coming in, maybe you should be realistic, we was never going to hammer them with so many new personnel.

Player will settle, they will get to know each other and they will go on to make us a hell of a team in the future.

CHILL PEOPLE!!

Although we lost and didn't play particularly well I am still strangely more confident that we will finish above them than any time I can remember supporting spurs

Too many emotions clouding some peoples judgement by the looks of it.

Townsend was exhausted and had no legs. Lamela was the obvious choice. He looked a little nervous and probably too soon for him. Still showed some nice touches.

Chadli CAN create, but needs to work on his final ball. He tries to shoot far too often.

Soldado can't score if he doesn't get the ball. 27 touches all game! They defended deep and in numbers, so not easy to get the ball through.

Dawson, erm, yeah. Not much to say apart from let Vertonghen bring the ball out. Stick to getting your head or foot on those interceptions. You cannot run with the ball, he makes himself dizzy.

Paulinho and Capoue did ok in the middle, but it will take time to gel. They need someone further forward to create the chances. Would have been interesting if Eriksen had played.

Overall I'm disappointed with the result. But we outplayed them for most of the match. Arsenal have been playing together longer and always put in 100% in NLD's. Our squad is still new and will take time to gel. I'm expecting two wins from Norwich and Cardiff. Just hope everyone can stay fit. Need Kaboul back too!

I don't think Paulinho should be starting . and from what I've seen of him in the last 3 games he was a little overpriced.
If I had a say I'd go back for a Dembele - Sandro duo like last season with holtby , sigurdsson or eriksen in front of them.
Dembele and Sandro were the best midfield in the league . even in our worst games last season we kept possession much better than this.
we learned that Dembele is not good in an advanced position. He should go back to where he shined last year. No way paulinho is worth getting him out of position.

The way Arsenal line up, along with the substitutions proves that Wenger is now scared of us and knows counter attacking football is his best and possibly only way of beating us. The tides have turned I believe. We dominated Arsenal and Arsenal defended well, years ago it was the other way around; we were playing away as well, how many teams go to the Emirates and dominate possession?

I am very happy about our future.

both souness and carragher made the same point that Verts (he who must not be criticized) had to take some blame for the goal, for holding the line with Rose rather than trying to intercept.

I was disappointed with the substitutions today - we were clearly lacking creativity and Defoe was never going to help with that. Stiill, we have a great squad now but it will take time to gel - we lacked creativity but we have Lamela, Eriksena and Holtby to come in so we will be fine on that score. We definitely need another striker though.

Can Townsend or Lamela play on the left? I just hope the two can fit into the same team and it is not one or the other. Townsend was our only threat going forward in the first half and looked lively.

You think they were the better team? Looked to me like they were hanging on for the entire second half.

They were absolutely the better team and the reason being is that they got their tactics right.

They were pressing us fucking hard from the get go and as usual looked fairly dangerous on the break.

They didn't actually look as dangerous as they usually do against us at the Emirates so that's fairly reassuring, and once Eriksen and Lamela become fully integrated with the side I think we'll be ok.

But it wasn't unlucky that we lost today. Seriously.

Amazed at the comments on here. I was at Anfield so can't really comment as I only watched the game on TV, but come on.
Aye. There's no denying it was a poor day at the office but this is going to happen at times. It's not going to go like a RR straight out of the garage.

The midfield seemed to forget about the whole pressing thing which is a damn shame and despite having a lot of the ball, we created very little. It's not like we were crushed or anything though.

So much denial in how poor we were

Of course we'll get better. We're talking about today, where we weren't very good

Don't think our left side was that bad. We constantly played the ball out on our right side in the second half. I get nervous every time Dawson and Walker are trying to act playmakers and they loose the ball a lot with miss hit diagonal passes. Walker is fast and gets into good positions at times with his pace but for the love of god he under hits his crosses more than Lennon.

Next summer AVB will buy a new rb if he doesn't improve a lot.

Awesome Dawson is great when it comes to fight in defense, throwing himself in to block, clearances and heading. Lovely bloke but he is not the ball playing cb we need. Go Vlad (if Kaboom is not fit).

What gets me, is some of us who acted like we were a dead cert for this game. Its that, that pisses me off.

Very frustrating game but I agree with the sensible posts on here.

A fearful AVB helped Arsenal immensely today, we spent most of the game passing sideways, yet he only chose to bring on a forward-passing minded player with around 15 minutes left. It was clearly an 'I will try and not lose rather than win mentality' and it backfired.
I have championed AVB since we got him but today, he let the side down badly.

I hope the Capoue knock is not the bad, he has been a great acquisition to this point.
Better to 'try not to lose' with a team that's still as yet finding their feet than trying to achieve something that has a minute probability of happening. It was pretty obvious today that the understanding between players isn't quite there yet. Misplaced passes, slow reactions and unanticipated runs were some of the let downs I saw today. HOWEVER we spent most of that game in control of possession and were almost always alert to their attacking threat. We dominated the game for most periods but just could not find a way to translate it into scoreline superiority. Looking at the match today AVB will look at it more as a lesson than as a sign of failure. He was right about the team being stronger with or without GB and I think the scoreline today proved that. Those goons were genuinely happy to see an end to the game and that tells me that even though we might not know how good we are yet, other teams have started to pay attention. Give it time. In AVB I trust.

Well that was pretty average in the end, will look forward to getting Eriksen & Lamela into the starting line up! Hopefully they will be integral to getting Soldado into the game! On the plus side, we played terribly yet were still better than Arsenal I thought!

we lost the game mate. lost one nil.

nonsense talk of been better.. arsenal were hungrier and put in way way more effort than our crowd. deserved their win and looked dangerous evry time they went forward. we looked shit.
