But we didn't win 7-0 today for fucks jesus!!!!!!!

AVB OUT!!!!!
Real football was watching us draw 0-0 with Boro on a Sunday in a snoozer then being back on the wed to watch us play boro again in the cold. We scored in first min, they equalise with last kick from us losing a throw in at the other end of the pitch, we lose on pens.....7 hours of driving and I was back for more the next week.

Someone who actually puts their hands in their pockets beyond the occasional reduced price cup game and therefore has a right to criticise those who spends thousands each year on this 'entertainment'

I stopped going despite being a season ticket holder previously because the stadium became a place of negativity rather than enjoyment, even though we were improving season on season.

I still watch every minute I can on tv, follow everything on Spurs in the press and try and read as many views of various Spurs fans as possible.

So sorry if you think you're a 'better' fan than me, but if that's what you think then quite frankly fuck off.

And if you're going to glory in the fact that you can afford to go to games, please as least couple it with at least supporting the fucking team you propose to be a fan of.

The thing is, I thought today, that the crowd were actually willing the team on to give them something to get behind.

The few times we did get into promising positions or maintain some real concerted pressure (of the keeper/box threatening kind) not the inert toothless sideways passing kind the crowd raised the noise and support. But then after that 2-3min burst the team would slow it back down again, work the ball backwards and start from scratch with a passage of square passing and kill off the crowd.

I think we need to remember its a two way street, both feed off each other.

Anfield was deathly silent for long periods last season. Its amazing what attacking football and GOALS will do for an atmosphere.

Wonder how many of those agree with AVB actually venture to WHL on a regular occasion ?
Well I do.....and I do.
Something's not right when I'm walking away from the ground tonight and the spurs fans walking infront of me are discussing nothing but negatives in our performance.
Get behind them or fucking stay at home.

AVB is spot on.. plus he said he was relaying the message from the players.

Fucking fickle fairweather ***s.

Best PL start ever. A raft of new players settling in. Hardly any goals conceded. He is building something and football fans are too stupid to see it.

Just fucking fuck off. So called "supporters" make me sick. Yes it's not particularly exciting atm... But it's hard when the majority of teams put 11 men behind the ball.

You don't know what youve got til it's gone... When AVB fucks off to Real/PSG/Juve etc you'll see.

It is, we didn't get any penalties last season despite having loads of calls that were much more clear than any we've been given this year. We've been lucky this time around, loads of refs wouldn't have given those penalties. And as for continue to get into box? Yeah, we were constantly there yet again tonight?

Tell you what...you continue to think that the only reason we're doing well is because of the refs.

I'll continue to see the positives in our best start to a premiership season ever.

And we'll see who enjoys it more.

What's sad is that amongst all the nonsense that's being spouted, I haven't seen anyone comment on how great it is that we finaly have a striker who can calmly score under such big pressure.

There is a serious togetherness in the squad, its just a shame the same cant be said about the fans.

And another thing... Players won't want to play in this toxic atmosphere. The likes of Sandro/Vertonghen/Soldado etc will fuck off and we will be left with the equivalent of Rory Allen.

Don't get me wrong i think we are very boring at the moment and to be honest I don't like it at all.

However AVB has a point. I've seen the atmosphere go down hill in the last 3/4 years. This includes under Harry.

The problem?

The average age of the crowd has probably doubled in the last 10 years.

When I go to WHL these days I hardly see any teenagers any more. All I see is grown men of my generation. Mid 30's upwards.

I remember standing with my mates in the Paxton in the early 90's in my early teens singing my heart out along with other teenagers and men in their early 20's. Coming up with new original songs almost every game depending on who we were playing.

This was where the atmosphere was coming from back then even when we were shit and losing. So many time a rendition of of oh tottenham we love you would start if we were losing. This wouldn't happen now.

The crowd these days come to the lane and expect to be entertained. And to be fair the amount people spend on ticket im not sure this is wrong.

Football has changed and to be honest I don't think for the best. I really miss the old days.

The answer?

We need to get youngsters back to the Lane

How?

I really don't know

Yawn - not going down the better better fan route, but I firmly believe to have the right to criticise you need to have some skin invested in the issue and those of who pay thousands each year, and in my case for 25 years, perhaps have a little more weighty opinion than those who chose to spend their cash elsewhere and chose to watch games on TV especially if they are geographically close to WHL

I can see both sides.

Support was much better in the 90's when we were shit. However, we were shit, bar one or two superstars, so being shit was expected. With a team like we have now, we should certainly be playing better, more fluid football.

It's hard to get excited and sing when you're watching constant sideways and backwards passing. And it's all so slow in its build up. That's what pains me more than anything else, it's sooooo sloooooow.

On the other hand, we have no right to expect a win and a good set of supporters will sing up no matter what the circumstances. We're top 4 and very difficult to beat. We're no longer a soft touch. Lots of 'experts' see us as challengers. We're quite a big deal. And AVB is a big part of that. He obviously believes that we're not doing our part as fans at home and looking at our league position etc, you can understand why he's angry.

I think he should've worded his attack slightly differently. It's come out very harsh and will give opposing fans lots of material when they visit the Lane. 'Doing it alone' and 'no support' aren't the best things to say to your own fans, even if he's right.
