Just watched the game after being back from work. My thoughts are much the same as everyone else's no doubt but I haven't read the thread.

On another day we would have scored 5 but this isn't going to help with confidence low. AVB needs to show what he is made of now.

Townsend needs some time out of the team. Frustrated the help out of me today. Constant poor shooting, poor passing, poor control, just generally poor. I don't mind him trying to do it all but we were dominating today so we needed a cool head out there.

Soldado didn't look sharp in the slightest and the fact he wasn't on the end of Eriksens cross early on puts pay to the "it's because the service is poor" comments. I'm struggling to work out what type of forward he is and if he is right for us. Hope it works out.

Lloris is essential, granted he can't score the goals but we wouldn't have lost today with him.

Vertonghen and Sandro are our best players, Kaboul needs to play from now on.

Subs are poor and not helping.

Our set pieces are the worst in the country and it's becoming embarrassing.

Our left side needs some identity. Lennon? Siggy? Lamela? Townsend? Eriksen? Are any of those players left wingers?

The crowd were poor today. Worse than the team. We got countered and then a keeper had a worldly. We made chances today and we played decent football in parts but the crowd booed at half time!

Lets hope now we are up against it and not expected to win that we can pull something out of the bag against city and Utd. Lose those and we will be about 10th and the pressure on AVB and the players will be at an all time high.

I'm a positive fan and I'm sure we look back at this season as a success but we need to be careful and work hard to find a working formula.

Sorry i've only read the highlighted bit, but when have we ever scored 5 under avb in the league? Ona nother day we STILL would've scored sweet FA

AVB's system is floored. It was his downfall at Chelsea and it will be his downfall here. Don't play a high line when your CB's are lacking pace.

I meant it in more of a cliche. Certainly on another day we could have scored more than enough to win.

There is no precedent for us battering a team in the premiership under AvB.. is there?

At best maybe a couple then shut up shop.

The consistent problem for AVB has been the Redknapp crowd amongst fans and the press. Today, we had that prick Wright suggest that the analogy with AVB was The Emperor's New Clothes. Would he like to extend that to Pellegrino? One can waste a lot of energy trying to reason with these imbeciles.
I think that this may be a watershed moment, because AVB can use it to drop a few people like Townsend and Defoe. At present, Townsend is a squad player and he needs to think about his game. I think that come the last third of the season AVB will not rotate as much.

Sweetman, with the absolute greatest of respects, if we are in this situation during the last third of the season i hope that he will not be here to rotate anything. Levy is not going to stand for another dozen games like this, and i can't blame him.

I think that if anyone else other than Wright had said those words then we would have taken the remarks differently. One thing i will say about Wright though is that he has in the past made positive remarks about Spurs and the style of football played, and though that was under Redknapp he was i believe being honest at that time.

Why did we sell our world class player when he had years to go on his contract? He would win us games like this on his own! God I miss him :( come back Clint.

Do you disagree with Wright?

Just back from the game read through the last couple of pages which were pretty predictable but I wonder if anybody saw it like I did. What I saw in the second half wasn't simply an improvement on the first and it wasn't people working harder and a change of tactics, it was a completely different team to every game I've seen this year, the whole tempo was twice as high we were moving it forward with quicker sharper passing and moving much more off the ball christ there were even timjes when we had two or three players in their box.
It could be one of those watershed matches, it'll be interesting to see how this pans out over the next few months.
Mr, u are spot on.

i was watching the united v arsenal game, and thought why on earth aren't we playing high tempo game.

currently i feel de-illusion about our football, for the first time i see why people moan about their season ticket and demand to be entertained.

there is time to gel as a team and just plain dross, i feel we have gel'ed as a team to just bore their way to dross football.

i was there today, and you could see the crowd was backing the team, as soon as their goal went in that was it. The mood of the crowd was poisonous from then on, we tried but it was a tuff as we knew that was it in terms of result.

AVB, best take this international break to figure out the best approach fir spurs as it well get worse from all corners if the performance doesn't drastically improve.

how on earth has Remy scored close to the same amount of goals as spurs whole team in the league.

just back from the game long journey; for what its worth,Soldado is no fox in the box on the evidence of the super cross from Erikson,Paulinho pulled out of several 50,50 balls, and fromwhere i ws at the wrong end of the ground at least two chances could have been converted by putting the laces through it.
Also Defoe got caught offside!!!!.

We must not forget that we have a very inexperienced manager. He had a blinding year at Porto, a disaster at Chelsea and now he is with us so overall he has less than 5 years top level experience. One thing I have often heard successful managers say is they start their careers believing the system is the most important thing and then try and fit players into that system - a bit like AVB is doing now especially on the left with Siggy/Lennon playing there. As these managers mature, they realise the players are the priority and the system should be built around them. Not sure how long it will take our gaffer to come to this point but sure hope it is soon.

I would like to see us ditch inverted wingers as a starting point even if just for periods in a game. I mean Lennon steaming down the right wing with Townsend down the left would frighten most teams - just imagine how many times they would get to the byline and fire crosses in. We may see a better Soldado then as most of his goals at Valencia were from crosses into the box and sublime first time finishing. Let's face it, he is no Negredo/Drogba type and certainly no Aguero/Suarez type. He comes alive in the 18 yard box and beyond that he doesn't seem interested so we should set up to get the best out of our £26m investment before all the confidence drains out of him and we are left with our own version of Chamakh!

Look I know we're all hurt here - nobody expected a performance like that from Krull the conqueror! Time to regroup, consolidate and face the truth that we need AVB now more than ever.

Why are people saying maybe this will be a watershed moment for avb? Wtf was West Ham then?

Newcastle are such an average team away from home and we couldn't get behind them at all in the same way they got in behind us on more than one occasion.

I suspect Dembele will be giving interviews saying we can't get motivated for these games and avb will be saying we need to take more risks. Just start by picking the right team Andre and playing with a high tempo from the get go not when we've reached half time at 0-0.

I can barely remember us putting a team to the sword under AVB. Some very solid performances, some good wins, but compared to Liverpool of recent weeks who are destroying poor teams particularly at home, we have laboured to many results in the last 6 months. We scrapped wins at the tail end of the season, 1 nils vs Southampton, Sunderland etc and that run has continued this year.

I also cannot understand why Lamela, brewing with confidence from Thursday didn't start today or at the very least come on. Would he have done any worse than Towsend or Sig? I question a number of AVB's decisions in recent weeks. Lets hope he puts all those doubts to bed by getting us back and up for 2 huge games vs the Mancs.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

i am not in the avb out camp but he needs to take a look at his "system" and stop being stubborn and change what needs to be changed. 11 games in and it hasn't clicked so stop waiting for it to happen and change it.

For what it's worth it's a disgrace that penalties apart, Soldado, Paulinho, Eriksen, Chadli and Lamela have collectively scored 2 goals in the league from open play. £85m of 'talent' currently not weighing in with their worth.
