I think the only reason he's grown on me is because he's been our best player this season.

You're probably right about his ego too. Wouldn't even surprise me if he was playing better this season due to Bale leaving and him being a bigger fish. We've all got our flaws though haven't we? I wouldn't read in to stuff. He looked like he was just taking the piss out of Kane and having a laugh.

I certainly agree that we all have our flaws, and it would be boring if we didn't.

Guess I just like to see youngsters encouraged in public, like I'm sure everybody does. Public support is worth so much more than private. It's a sponsorship of your general quality, and personality.

Just back at the hotel, once Ade equalised I was sure about 3 points. Great night out.

Thing that struck me tonight, other than the improved performance, was the apparent togetherness of the team. I know it's easier after a win but there seemed to be a great spirit out there!

Loved the Ade/Tim salute as well. Not quite as sexy as the Bale/AVB hug but loved it all the same.

but he did intimate that about top four or not keeping his job, he's actually standing there lying now...like Gary rightly pointed out.

All I recall him saying was that he did not even know if top four would result in him keeping the job. i.e. no specific targets were set.

Mate you know I've defended him quite a lot on here so have no agenda to claim otherwise but I distinctly remember him strongly intimating that top four was still the objective and then he went on to say if we didn;t get it he'd probably wouldn't be here next season.

You may have inferred that from what he said, but those certainly were not his words. If they had been I think they would have been widely quoted over the last few months.

And it was not the inference I drew at the time. I understood him to be saying that fifth might be sufficient for him to keep his job.

Mate, he definitely said it....why do you think Neville brought it up tonight?

He said it in a sort of jokey way, but he definitely meant it.

He never mentioned fifth place so you must be thinking of another interview...the discussion was to do with making fourth.

He said it.

Is this the quote you are thinking of:

"I don't even know if top four gets me the job [for next season]," Sherwood said. "You will have to ask the chairman but he doesn't give much away. You certainly wouldn't want to play poker against him."

Sherwood has had no assurances. "And I'm not asking for any, either," he continued. "I just need to get as high up the league as I can. If my achievements don't match the expectations of the club, then I'll be gone.

"I am so relaxed about the job and I am just going to do what I can. I can assure everyone I will give 100% to do my best for this football club and, if that's not good enough, someone else comes in and gets the opportunity."

If not, then what?

Because that to me does not bear the interpretation you have given it. That reads to me that no specific targets were set.

Could be, but I'm pretty sure he said it at some point.

Can't be arsed to go googling forever, myself, but go ahead.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, no problem with that. Either way he's still a xxxx and can do one.:)

You are wrong, about a lot of things, probably to the point where you should start to have problem with that.

Eddie baby, I'm rarely wrong about anything.

Wind it in, sister.
Ummm, just to add some weight to you point, didn't Sherwood complain about the unrealistic expectations of the "higher ups" about getting a CL place and to get "real"?

I'm pretty sure he mentioned it amidst the ocean of warble he's drooled about himself during his tenure.

I thought Kaboul looked good, especially for somebody who is supposed to be retiring at the end of the season. I can't remember where that info came from (might of been LLM), but I guess we can take it with a pinch of salt!! :) He seems like he is slowly getting back to a decent level, which is great to see.
