I thought Rose was OK tonight and was OK to good in a lot of games last season. What happens with Rose if Davies comes?

You will probably be saying this about Ben next month. Danny is fine.

Think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

IMO he can't cross, is constantly out of position and makes constant mistakes.

Classic example being Rosickys goal for Arsenal last season.

I would imagine they will both be told to fight it out for the first spot. Rose obviously wants to start but he must know that he has to compete with another player to prove himself.

I am not so sure about this Davies buy. £8 mill seems an awful lot for a not exactly sensational player.
For sure we need a new LB. BAE is gone. If I thought Sunderland were waiting to pay maybe £4-5 m for Rose then maybe a net £3 m punt on Davies is worth it.

But then you would need to buy a back up player anyway!! You can't have 1 left back. Zeki isn't ready. I'm not sure he passed the ball forward tonight.

Totally agree, I'm not saying he is the right guy. Just that rose must be kept or we will need to get 2 LBs in.

Well for all we know Poch might want to keep Rose as a second option. Rose's failings are mostly psychological. He's arrogant and has a poor work rate. Davies coming in might give him the kick up the arse he needs. However, I don't think Rose will be happy to play second fiddle and will probably leave in a strop.

Yet statistics are a big foundation for transfer decisions. Go figure...

I think stats maybe take a part in highlighting players-if a player gets lots of goals, makes a lot of assists, tackles, blocks, clearances etc, but then scouts tend to start looking at players to see if the stats actually highlight a good player or give a dodgy view.

I don't know any clubs that just take stats and make decisions to buy players.

Ben Davies flies to Seattle to finalise £10million move from Swansea City to Tottenham Hotspur
Defender will be confirmed as Mauricio Pochettino's first signing of the summer in the next few days

Swansea City defender Ben Davies has flown to Seattle to finalise his £10million move to Tottenham Hotspur .

Davies jetted out to join the Spurs squad on their pre-season training camp and will be confirmed as Mauricio Pochettino's first signing of the summer in the next few days.

Swansea finally thrashed out a deal for the Wales international with Spurs on Friday and the 21-year-old's move could earn the Welsh club a potential £12million after add-ons.

Liverpool had an offer rejected for Davies early last week and were considering an improved bid due to Brendan Rodgers's growing frustration over his pursuit of Sevilla's Alberto Moreno.

But Davies told Swansea he was keen to join Pochettino at Spurs as he believes he will have a better chance of regular first-team football with the north Londoners.
Why would he fly out there, our next stop is Chicago, would have been a very short flight/drive from Minneapolis.

Wasn't disagreeing, just elaborating on your point.

I'd rather us get rid of Rose, to be honest, something about him that I really dislike. However, I agree that we need cover if Fryers isn't ready yet.
