I still think we're shit.

Beating Chelsea, one of maybe 6 teams that will play to beat us is not indicative of our true ability. Beating teams like Palace, Stoke, Newcastle, West Brom, Sunderland and Burnley, who aim not to lose would show we're actually capable of a consistent challenge.
We've failed to beat all of them already this season and it's only halfway.

Agreed. Some clear improvements made, especially since Mason has come into the frame and developed, but we're still too consistently clueless how to break down smaller sides and far too gutless and unwilling to take responsibility against them. Our players look absolutely terrified of taking defenders on. Is unlike anything I've ever seen at this level.

Really still need some aggression and mentality-enforcement IMO.

I also find it odd that we have actually done OK against the teams around us - weve only lost one game to any team + or - 3 places away from us.

That smacks to me of a mentality issue - i.e cant raise our games for teams the players may think we should be beating. I agree with other that we need some actual experience in the middle of the park - a proper leader.

The whole meaning of this thread has been lost. Most of the recent posters just have not grasp the concept, or probably do not know how it works. Its an amnesty where we were supposed to be allowed to make our thoughts or opinions about anything to do with Spurs be known, irrespective of how controversial, without Messrs "Know it all" and "self righteous" putting in their two pennies worth.

They're not terrified-they just can't do it. I just don't know why after 18 months people are looking for nuances with this squad. It simply isn't close to top 4 quality. We've been outplayed by Villa, Hull, Palace, Leicester, Stoke and west Brom this season. It's a small wonder that we have so many points. If it wasn't for Kane and Lloris this team would be in lower mid table or worse. Chelsea result was a freak that can happen. This squad needs ripping up, be in no doubt. The only question us whether Enic wants to commit to executing that-because it'll cost them money.

While I agree that our attackers aren't all top four quality, I absolutely disagree that they "can't do it rather than they're terrified." I don't know how else to describe it other than experience, but they are visibly afraid of attacking space. They'll be looking at a pocket ahead of them with two defenders behind them, and stall. That's not inability, that is sheer and utter fear of taking the risk and seeing what happens. It's simply a sign you pick up over the years of playing from trying to identify which teammates you can trust with the ball in certain situations or not. I don't mean to denigrate your take on the matter at all, in fact rather the opposite as I have no evidence whatsoever aside from what I declare to you that I see based from my own experiences. But to me, those attackers look visibly terrified of taking on responsibility and opportunities for chances.

Yesterday was particularly bad. Chances not taken with gaps of space ahead, while Palace scored their second goal by simply having the balls to take on a back line, cause some chaos, and find someone in the space that results from it. We simply do not do it enough, nor have the ruthless passing enough from wide to take advantage of it.

You don't think saying we're shit is unpopular? After thrashing Chelsea?

Not what he is saying. He is saying people who are giving out neg reps and disagrees and commenting and starting arguments do not grasp the point of this thread. Don't think was aimed at your post.

I really don't have any issues with the spelling and grammar on these boards. In a published format? Sure. But here? No biggie.

But here's the kicker ... I don't mind folks bitching about it, either.

Engliish football is turning a corner and the future of the Premiership lies in developing homegrown talent rather than hiring foreign mercenaries.

I like Emmanuel Adebayor. Sure, he has a life outside football and doesn't live and breathe Spurs, but I think he wants to play and to play well for the team. I truly believe he is currently going through a period of what western medicine would call mental illness, and that he does genuinely believe he is a victim of witchcraft. If he beats the Juju it's likely he could find form and become as formidable as we know he can. If there's also an ego and entitlement matter then that's a different thing, but none of us can know for sure whether that's the case. I believe he wants to enjoy playing good football for his team, and when he's happy he scores goals and helps others score goals.

God, I hope that's not an unpopular opinion.

I think it's pretty apparent that British talent seems to have figured out how to play its own style within the modern game. The technical ability of the young kids coming through has been extremely impressive to watch over the last year in particular. IMO, they've even turned it around faster than I think many expected.

I don't think Soldado has missed any worse chances than Kane, Adebayor or any other PL striker.

I think people sensationalise them because they're not padded out by goals.

I have one pent up frustration worthy of amnesty it is that I find a large proportion (near 80%) of fans on matchdays are complete wankers and i can't stand them - they give it all the "big 'un" in the pubs before and after but they are as quiet as meece and dull as dishwater in the stadium.

Even worse is when these ****s boo the team. I don't mind a bit of banter but booing is just the shittiest thing to hear in front of away fans.

So towards all those 80% that I can't stand; "Put the fucking beer/prawn sandwich down and lift the team up!"

The rest of you carry on as normal.
