He had a fantastic game yesterday. I thought he was really poor last season but he has come on leaps and bounds and deserves plaudits for some of his recent performances.

Also, something I used to hate but now I absolutely love is that he is a tenacious little bastard, same with Mason. It took me a while to understand that we have needed that grit and passion. For me it was those traits that were the difference yesterday!

I agree completely with this, and it seems that this is something that is starting to run through the team. From front to back, we as a team are like a pack of wolves hounding their prey and biting into every challenge, and it is not like we are doing it aimlessly either, it is a controlled aggression and this is one thing that clearly unsettles the opposition.

It is worth noting that whilst the rest of the team are like this, the central defence pairing are less so, and seem to look to stay in position and stand off a bit more, thus giving Lloris more protection. All of the players yesterday were very good, but the pressure high up the pitch was telling for me.

Although Rose was caught out for the 1st goal, he was up for it there after, head never dropped and hustled down that left wing all game.

Ah, though you was pointing out my stance on rose. lol

Yeah, clyne is exactly what we need. Agreed. :)

Yep in summer when people were saying who should we asset strip from Southampton I was hoping we'd get Clyne (think I posted on here and got slapped down by walker fans).

Walker im undecided on, but I think Clyne would definitely be better defensively.

He'd be better all-round He's just a better player.

Kyle did ok yesterday though, must say, his best game since coming back.

I thought Danny had a great game yesterday and can't blame him for their goal.
For me he did nothing wrong,he was simply beaten by the sheer pace of Wellbeck and those things happen to every defender.
Put in some really dangerous balls that should have led to at least one goal and made a super challenge in our box to deny Wellbeck.
HE IS ALSO ONE OUR OWN!!!!!

Agree to an extent, still think he was atrocious with the ball going forward in the 1st half.
Kyle will look around and realise his place could be in jeopardy if we keep improving, a good situation for the team as it confirms nobody is safe unless consistant performances are made.
Its a similar situation to the Lennon one, gets into good positions but delivery is often very poor, would like to think the coaches are working on his delivery with him, and in turn he takes some extra time to improve this also.

"best game since coming back" was relative to the turds he'd been laying up to yesterday. ;):D

The only thing he could have done was block him like Monreal did for Walker. But who's to say he would have lasted 90 mins with a yellow that early.

Another good performance again from him, almost part of a settled back 5, when's the last time we could boast that

Some of the posts at the beginning of this thread are horrible, even though this thread had all the intentions of getting behind one of our own the responses are not some you would associate from fans.

Look at the stick Rose was getting after his injury lay-off last season, and look at the stick Walker's getting now.

Previous to the injuries Rose was Sunderlands POTY and Walker was PFA YPOTY.

I like Clyne, I'd be happy signing him, but I'm not ready to give up on Walker yet.

Had a great game yesterday and let's not forget those 2 shots which were both really decent efforts making the keeper work, much improved consistancy this season.

Spot on, that's exactly how they are playing, relentless pressure and harassment. It must be quite intimidating.

Before he used to look like he wanted aggro for the sake of it, but now its channelled for the good of the team.

He may be a little shit. But now he is our little shit.

Loved his performance yesterday.

Likewise Mason and Nabil. And even Lamela. They got stuck in didnt they. Tenacious, niggly, and a little nasty.

Also, I like that he's a bit of an annoying little shit. Opposing fans have had a go at him a few times this season and you can see he wound up welbeck yesterday.

I agree. All the great teams have a player like this. It's a welcome addition to our team's mentality, and the kind of player it brings the best out of. I'd bet my bottom dollar he's the kind of bloke you'd want on your side in a fight. Small, fast, strong, tenacious, wirey and a handful. Years of being a publican in a back street boozer, taught me these were often the hardest to deal with, not the too obvious 6 foot 7 giants. :)

Looks a totally different player under Poch to the extent that I no longer have any concerns when I see his name on the team sheet. All aspects of his game seem to have improved.

He has a great engine, but I'm still disappointed that he made no meaningful cross yesterday. Hope Poch and his team can teach him to do that and he'll then be a proper wing-back.

Poch will get it done. His final has improved slightly this season so i have hope that Poch can get the best out of him. Really good young player, always believed in his ability. I think he has the potential to become a top player

Yeah i like the aggression he has , i think the biggest thing this season is having that competition from Davies has made him fight for the position more and good on him as i was worried he was going to give up. He was quite poor at times last season and was caught out of position a hell of a lot but this season his timing has improved in when to get forward and stay further back. He has made some mistakes but playing as a very attacking left back will do that.

Thought Jordon Ibe was very very good 9/10 (MOTM). Rose was given the run around. But thought taking it all into consideration Danny did well.
