Losing today is annoying but we all knew it was the most likely outcome and it doesn't change our overall plan.

Win as many games as we can between now and the end of the season and see where that takes us in terms of final league position.

Then use the summer to shift the wasters in our squad and buy Poch some players he actually wants.

Same plan. Keep going.

Yes i want to be a winning club whats wrong with that instead we are the nearly men

So are most clubs mate, were in the top 6 clubs in the football league, better than 84 others, we should win more given our status in the game but there has been some terrible decision making behind the scenes for a good 25 years, its shit but its the reality.

I was more annoyed with our 2-0 defeat in the fiorentina game than this one. Beating Mourinhos Chelsea in a cup final was always going to be difficult. He's a pragmatist and an expert at getting the job done regardless of style.

But I really expected us to go through against fiorentina and I'm pretty annoyed even still that after all those group games we just crashed out so easily.

Think Poch will look back on these past couple weeks with lots of regret. Easy in hindsight but I wonder if he could do it all again if he would have went with a stronger starting line up in the home leg
Spot on. We could have quite easily have taken a good lead to Italy with us and I think some of our players had too much of a rest prior to the west ham game. Sometimes it's good to have a game immediately after another using the same players as they carry on from where they left off and it can be better than a training session.

It's not even necessarily that.

The list of trophy winners outside of the top 5 (still in the the Premiership) in the last 25 years is:

Us: 1 x FA Cup, 2 x League Cup
Leicester: 2 x League Cup
Everton: 1 x FA Cup
Swansea: 1 League Cup

The Premiership era has killed off any team that cannot compete financially, and in trophy terms, we're still the 'best of the rest'.

Baldini maybe. But pretty certain AVB didn't want many of those players (except paulinho)
You are quite right that AVB did not want them. He want players who we could not afford, who did not want to join us. But of the players he could have settled for he chose those.

Sucks that we lost but I didnt really expect to win so im not too pissed over it. Im more pissed off that the NLD win continues to look more and more like a false dawn. We've been in terrible form since. Crashed out of Europa, crashed out of the top 4 competition and lost the final. It pisses me off that we continuously fail to capitalize on opportunities.

As for today, we didnt play well at all. Its amazing that people can say we did. We never looked like scoring and never made Cech have to make a great save. We didnt create chances. With all that possession, and failing to do anything in the final third, we did not play well in the slightest.

We always fall apart this time of year its a mental thing we dont have it.

There is a huge hole in that plan though. What if Daniel Levy doesn't want to shift the "wasters" in the squad at market prices? What if Levy does shift those players, but doesn't want to pay 25 million pounds for Morgan Schneiderlin or 15 million pounds for Jay Rodriguez or 10 million pounds for Jordy Clasie, nor feels inclined to give Yehven Konoplyanka a 3 million pound signing bonus or Danny Ings 85K a week? There's not a damn thing Poch can do if Levy mandates we can only spend what we take in via sales, and that certain players Poch prefers aren't going to be bought because they don't fit into whatever financial model we are operating under.

Pochettino should've have been given backing last summer, on the heels of us increasing television revenue from 57 million pounds to 90 million pounds. Instead, he was given 25 million pounds of defensive players who haven't really improved us and Stambouli who doesn't even play. Zero attacking players signed since Poch arrived, so my optimism for this summer being one where we improve the squad is limited. In fact, I'd be petrified of losing one or two really important pieces if we don't finish strong. Lloris leaving would be a crushing blow to the squad, and I really can't rule it out because logically speaking, he can play at a host of clubs that will pay him double what we can and who will spend money to surround him with players who are ready to win now on the biggest stage in club football.

All in all, I have sympathy for Poch. This job is very difficult. Expectations from Levy and the fans are very high (just look at the fact that last season's 69 point season was deemed a disappointment by many), and the resources aren't commensurate with a team that is sitting 13th in Deloitte's money league, and who will likely jump into the top 10 within two years (and probably leapfrog Juventus) with the 2016 tv deal.

SACK POCH!

AND LEVY!

AND KILL OUR ENTIRE SQUAD!

Right, now the knee-jerk stuff is out of the way, we still have an outside chance of 4th, and have made it to a cup final in our Head Coach's first season.

There are plenty to move on in the summer. Ade, soldado, capoue, to name a few. Not convinced over lamela either.

Agree with previous post I feel sad rather than devastated. Probably didn't expect to win but hoped that we would. The next few weeks and next season will be a reflection of how good Poch is as a manager/coach. If we don't secure a Europa/Champions League place so be it but we need to move forward from this week. Build the mid around Bentaleb. Hope Pritchard makes the grade. Doubt whether Chadli, Lamella and Townsend are the answer. Defensively Rose and Walker are too naive and continue to give away stupid free kicks in dangerous areas. Another problem at the moment seems to be in our pressing game. When we press effectively (without giving away stupid free kicks) we look the match for anyone but today and Thursday were examples of where we came up short. We have to accept that Poch nor our beloved Spurs are the finished article (huge understatement I know) but we need to believe that together next season Spurs will be a force to be reckoned with.

Don't know what was shown on TV but I liked how some players didn't even stay around to collect their medals.

Obviously it was nice for Kane, Eriksen and Chadli to stick around and applaud the fans but Bentaleb was just straight down the tunnel as soon as the whistle went. Obviously hates losing and will only make him more determined next time
