Which is precisely why the owners should have invested more into buying an experienced striker to come on and help win games like this today. We've obviously improved massively, but it's so frustrating to know that a goal here and there in certain games would have us top of the league.
I'm talking more about our play in the final third as a whole tbf. We need to finish teams like Poch keeps saying. Killer instinct.

We are gonna need to be far more organised when we play West Ham. As Neville said, we were vulnerable from crosses and in the air we looked shaky. Carroll could easily take advantage if we don't get that sorted

Not this again...

Ings, Martial, Berahino we went for all three and couldn't get them for various reasons. We're not a club who are just going to go out and throw money at any player, they need to suit the manager's philosophy hence us holding back.

lol you killed your own argument about not throwing money at any player by naming three none of which were delivered .... which I think was the original point

One thing is for sure - Dier will have to man mark Carroll on corners/free-kicks. No one else.

Shows progress if we are disappointed to have drawn at the Emirates.

Shame we could not keep a clean sheet, but satisfied with a point.

Please explain how you came to that conclusion.

thought it was pretty clear 3 players manager wanted identified and none delivered .... kills the argument that we don't have a back up striker because we aren't going to waste money on just anyone.

'Moh' thinks they 'bullied' us in the Second Half. The Second Half, is 45 minutes mate, not 15.

If he didn't already have a yellow he would have stayed on; and getting a yellow in a game like this isn't an rarething to happen, though it seemed to be for the scum players as they should have had 2 or 3 players on a yellows as well.

Officials were rubbish today.

I thought Atkinson was good for him. Usually he's the worst ref in the league after jon moss but not today.

Can't agree with that. When you play a high press, harassing, nipping at the heels type of game you are going to get bookings. It's his 5th booking in 12 games. Dier had 5 after 8 or so. Did you think the same about him each time he got booked?

LOL - You have to look at each tackle on its merit - the stats are irrelevant. If a striker scores 1 goal in one appearance then never makes another all season, is he a better striker than some one who plays all season and scores 20?? His stats would suggest so.

He makes clumsy challenges, jesus i don't want him hanged for it.

The thing about this season is if we'd have won the games we should have when we have outplayed the oppo and have led...we'd be top.

Just shows you that once we cohere even more and are more dynamic and clinical we'll be in very good shape.
I get what you are saying and I fully agree. But We don't want the pressure that comes with being top of the league. If much rather we stay sitting just behind them. Out of the spotlight. If we come out of the next few games with 4-6 points we we bang in this title race. Leicester will drop off as will the spammers. So we are in a great position. Can we keep up the high tempo strategy until the end of the season. That is my fear.

After his yellow he had only made one foul.Every other tackle was aggressive but well timed.

He's never been sent off for us - yet every game i'm told he's a red waiting to happen- I'm happy to give him the credit that Lamela knows what he's doing.

On the other hand, no blame attached to Poch- he made a call that many would have.

Mate the fucking ref was clearly all for them, you have to take that into account too, Big North London derby and the crowd on his back - we have seen it many many times - i think he had to be subbed imo

Tottenham's display against Arsenal in the North London derby proves they mean business this season

Darren Lewis was impressed by what he saw from the visitors at the Emirates and feels Spurs have finally shown they won't be bullied by anyone

Nearly, but not quite.

For long periods of Sunday's pulsating North London Derby, Tottenham looked as though they would prevail as they launched a ferocious onslaught on their North London rivals.

It was the sight of Erik Lamela, snapping into tackles and tracking back to take on Joel Campbell at left back, that told you in the early minutes that Spurs meant business.

He maintained that level of performance throughout the match.

It summed up the superb team ethic of the side Pochettino has put together.

You could have picked any number of their stars as contenders for Man of the Match.

The work-rate of Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier was outstanding. Christian Eriksen seemed to ghost in behind the Arsenal defence at will. Dele Alli caused all sorts of problems with his industry and distribution.

In fact, the Arsenal midfield were so in control during the first 45 minutes thatArsene Wenger withdrew Santi Cazorla at the break - claiming the Spaniard was “dizzy” - and replaced him with Mathieu Flamini.

For so long, so many of the headlines for Spurs have been hogged by Harry Kane.

What a refreshing change it was that the England striker’s supporting-cast showed there is more to them as an emerging force than their star England striker.

In pictures - Arsenal 1-1 Spurs:

They may have one of the youngest squads in the Premier League but they showed here that they will not be bullied. By anyone.

They have every chance of finishing fourth.

TOTTENHAM
Lloris 7 - Fine save to deny Campbell. Intelligent distribution.

Walker 6 - Positive on the break but allowed Gibbs freedom to equalise.

Alderweireld 7 - Steady as you like, a class act in central defence.

Vertonghen 6 - Used the dark arts to unsettle Giroud, a niggly operator.

Rose 7 - Quality assist for Kane, good defensively. Should be in England squad.

Dier 8 - Looking like a top-class win-it-and-give-it holding midfielder.

Dembele 7 - Played deeper than of late, got stuck in and beats a man so effortlessly.

Lamela 7 - Booked. Manic workrate. Almost crazed tackling. No show pony.

Alli 7 - Set tone with early tackling. Tireless in the No 10 role.

Eriksen 7 - Always a threat cutting in from the right.

Kane 7 - Cool finish and some muscular hold-up play.

Subs

Son (for Lamela, 78 min, 6), Mason (for Alli, 82 min, 5), Onomah (for Eriksen, 90 min, 5)

Some people get so worked up over the slightest of criticism over our players - Lamela was excellent, he's prone to ill timed tackles and puts us under pressure. I aren't saying he shouldn't be playing just needs to be a little more disciplined at times.

Gary Neville Podcast: 'Fantastic' Tottenham built in Mauricio Pochettino's image

Mauricio Pochettino's young Tottenham put in a 'fantastic' performance at Arsenal on Sunday and the Spurs manager now has a team in his image, according to Gary Neville.

The Sky Sports football expert says Spurs fans should be optimistic about their future despite Kieran Gibbs' late equaliser that snatched victory from their side in the Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium.

"Tottenham were fantastic," Neville said on the Gary Neville Podcast. "Pochettino has really had to take the house down brick by brick and re-build it in the last 18 months.

"It's not easy to move some players on - with the wages they are on, they want to hang around - and he's done that. He's now got a team out on the pitch that's reflective of him. If I was a Spurs fan, I would gain great encouragement.

Gary Neville on Tottenham

"There's a team out there now that isn't as flaky as it used to be, that runs like crazy, that absolutely ran all over Arsenal for 75 minutes during that game. If there was one part of the match that they failed in, it was heading the ball - they couldn't clear their box.

"But it was a fantastic performance from a young team. From Pochettino's point of view, he will have a bit of a tingle because he can feel where he's taking this team. You can see the work that's going in on the training ground."

Arsenal failed to impress in the first half and Santi Cazorla was replaced by Mathieu Flamini at half-time, with Arsene Wenger revealing that the Spaniard had been suffering with dizziness.

Tottenham dominated the midfield, with Dele Alli particularly composed in a man-of-the-match performance, and Neville felt Arsenal lacked cohesion with Cazorla alongside Francis Coquelin for the first 45 minutes.

"From Arsenal's point of view, it's as bad as I've seen them, in terms of being disjointed, in such a big game," Neville said. "They finished really strongly, but the first half was the first time I've seen the midfield two look like I thought they might be in the Premier League, which is overrun and lacking in power.

"It was so difficult for Cazorla in particular, who was hauled off at half-time, they say he was feeling unwell. Well, I have a feeling there was case for taking him off even if he wasn't unwell, because Tottenham were brilliant. They got back into the game, though, and I think both managers can be happy for different reasons."
