Wait until the Summer, January is the worst time to buy, clubs want to hold on to their best players until the end of the summer.

I can't see us buying anyone in January either although we need a couple more in, it's like you say the best players will not be available until after the season ends.
Also factor in that levy will not pay over the odds for anyone so if that means struggling through and finishing 5/6/7th rather than a gamble and finish 4th, we will do the former as is the general stance of the club for years now so cannot see anything changing anytime soon.

I used to think he wouldn't pay over the odds until he paid for Sissoko.

Article by Greg Stobart on Ante Coric. @Archibald&Crooks - more transfer stories are now coming out, and we've even had some ITK I believe, so perhaps its time to re-open the Transfer + ITK sections?

Liverpool and Spurs set for Ante Coric transfer battle as £15m Croatian wonderkid goes up for sale

Liverpool and Tottenham will battle to sign £15 million-rated Ante Coric after Dinamo Zagreb decided to sell the Croatian wonderkid in the January transfer window.

Both clubs held talks over a deal to sign Coric in the summer but the 19-year-old playmaker decided to stay in Zagreb and review his options in January.

Coric pulled out of a proposed £15m move to Manchester City in August after learning that Pep Guardiola planned to send him out on a season-long loan.

City are unlikely to make a renewed bid for Coric, but the midfielder is expected to leave Dinamo in January and would prefer a move to the Premier League despite interest from leading clubs across Europe.

The Reds have been tracking Coric for more than two years and have been in regular contact with his representatives over a potential deal for one of the most highly rated youngsters in European football.

Spurs hope to take advantage of their good relationship with Dinamo dating back to Luka Modric’s move to White Hart Lane in 2008 and believe Coric fits their philosophy of signing talented young players with potential to improve under Mauricio Pochettino.

Everton have also made enquiries over the midfielder and hope to tempt Coric with the promise of more regular playing time than he could expect at Spurs or Liverpool.

Dinamo Zagreb are said to have been disappointed when Coric’s proposed transfer to City fell through and will demand at least £15m to sell their star player in the new year.

The club have made the decision to sell Coric, with the team almost certain to be out of European competition at the end of the Champions League group stage, where they sit bottom of their group having lost all four of their matches so far.

Coric has been compared to Modric for his sleight frame and technical ability, but prefers to play in a more advanced role than his compatriot, operating in a central No.10 role or from the left flank.

Coric has already played 102 matches for Dinamo Zagreb, scoring 15 goals and providing 19 assists for the side.

I wonder if January might be a chance to bring in Berahino.

He's in the last year of his contract so could get him on a cut price deal.

Not a huge fan but Poch seems a fan so is an option.

I don't think a club like us should be going near Berahino right now. There's a good player in there but he seems to be in a headspace where coming to a club with the expectations of Spurs would probably destroy his confidence even further.

I think a player like Coric or Isco is what we need, someone to unlock the passes through to our forwards. Isco is the dream, but I think Coric is more likely and he's still a phenomenal talent.

Berahino wouldn't be my first choice.

But Poch likes him and could mould him into something good.

I don't personally believe Isco is realistic and know nothing about Coric.

I hope we finally seal the N'Koudou transfer in January. Would be a massive boost to have a pacey winger with ability to beat a player in our squad.

if we want top 4 again, then we need to buy a couple of very good players in the Jan window. As simple as that.

Who realistically is going to be available to us? Bearing in mind as well that purchase from within the PL simply will not happen unless the selling club is actively looking to get rid of the player, and isn't a rival to us.
Zaha.

We all want top four from chairman to terrace fan but whether we actually get it is doubtful imo.
I have said before the season started that 5-7th is where we will finish and nothing i have seen so far will convince me otherwise, we are a good team but don't have the tools that the others above us have.

The situation is that he is sure to be leaving WBA and Pulis does not want to play him. Pulis wanted to sell him when we came in with our offer way back when but Peace had to be a hero and the rest is history. If we are looking for a pacy , young forward who has shown that he can score in the league against better teams, then Saido is that player. A change of scenery/environment is what he needs, a big hug from Poch and he'll scoring for fun again.

My intuition tells me that Poch has come to the conclusion that this guy is a prick, and has moved on.
