Genuinely don't get why we rested players for a must win game

Oh I do, it's money. Only reason you'd value qualifying for champions league over trying to win it

God we've fallen from grace so quickly. To dare is to do my arse. To nervously pretend to try to score, more like

I bet a lot of people all of a sudden cant attend the CSKA game due to unforeseen circumstances that have absolutely nothing to do with tonight's results...

Which is the exact problem with playing at Wembley.

How dare you suggest we tried to score tonight.

Disagree wholeheartedly. Leicester had a cakewalk of a group.
Sorry mate but I can't agree.. Their group is as tricky as us.. We know leicester has no (many) world beaters, but they play smart.. They don't play beautiful football, but they are smart.. This is smart, Poch.. And that's how they can win the league last season..

Not condoning them totally to focus on CL and endangering their league position, but they playing to what football is, what their fans can enjoy, along with the run of fame as far as that can carry them.. and sometimes I will have hope we can run the club a little bit by what a football game is.. Can't complain much on Levy though, as that is possibly another can of worms too.. But in all case, comparing our group and Leicester group is possibly giving them too little respect IMO..

Who was that?
I thought I saw on Facebook verts was out injured. Assumed he must be when saw line up.
Missed first 35min. Turned off after watching that shambolic 2nd goal. 1st one was bad enough.
I don't care what formation you're playing, what the coach said or how well you know the guy next to you, I can't fkin believe that ANYONE whose played at even a remotely decent level could be SOOOOO fkin incompetent.
If I put in as shite a performance as that in my job I'd get the sack.
Truly mindboggling.
As is leaving out verts if he wasn't injured.

I don't think any sentient being is advocating Poch being given the boot, or even that he is under pressure given what he has done, but you can't deny he has played a massive part in our relative failings this season (I know we are unbeaten in the league, but it's been a war of attrition so far)

Old habits die hard and seems like our feeble mental cracks are starting to appear again despite these being glossed over with an unbeaten record in the Prem.

I have to agree with those who state bad signings and the players who have signed long-term contracts have completely gone off the boil. MoPo has done wonders since taking charge but when he first took charge my worry was there was no plan B the need for fitness is all well and good but subsequent burn out followed. You are left scratching your head with tonight just looked so short with players chosen, lack of width and negative tactics the end was nigh.

Oh well only Chelski next time to park that bus again and if not at full strength well you saw what they did to Everton but with extra poison from them could be a very long night.

2 players Lloris and Kane yet to agree long term deals after tonight would you blame them everyone says so 'Spursy' and to lose them well this would only strengthen the phase.

We seem to really struggle when purchasing offensive players. Winks and Kane been our best offensive players two games in a row and both homegrown.

Hopefully our academy can produce a few more in the next year or two.

Sissoko, GKN, Janssen for 60ish millions. That is a criminal waste of money, allthough i do like Janssens attitude and think he will be decent, but not great.

It's ironic that our next game is one that last season we lost, but showed we had fight and bollocks, and now we've preceded it by the most spineless, gutless, timid and outfought display I think I've ever seen from us. Like anyone, the one thing I ask of the team, win or lose is effort but they completely pussied out of that. Only Lloris can take anything away from this game
We drew there last year....

We are simply not CL level like Poch said,we should be playing in the Europa cup and i think he is right. We sold Modric and then Bale and went shopping in Asda and got done. Now we have Jansen who maybe might find the net but why go for a player who has never played in the PL and sorry 17m just wont buy you a world class player. Then we went and got sissoko for 30m why ? who is to blame is it Poch,or Levy.Well something is not right at the club.We are in the top 5 and pushing again for top 4 this season but what's the point in buying players who are not top 4 class. This season a lot of things dont look right and i just hope Levy and co dont push Poch out if it all goes wrong.

I didn't watch the game. I am not going to watch the game. As soon as I saw Dier and wimmer at the back along with trippier. Against a team who have been smashing teams in the league I knew we were on a hiding to nothing. I don't get the mentality. But if we win the league. All will be forgiven.

Poch has come into a lot of stick for resting Vertonghen, and rightly so. He has been playing at an incredibly high level and has marshaled the defense to great effect since Toby's injury. Having him sat on the bench sent the wrong message in what should have been considered our most important match of the season.

On the other hand I don't think it's as fair to criticize Poch for resting Walker, who let's not forget had to come off at the weekend carrying a knock of some sort. If playing Walker tonight would have meant risking an injury that would have sidelined him for the holiday period then rotating him was the right call. Trippier, who is as decent of a second choice as we could hope for, just happened to put in an abysmal performance.

Our problems go way beyond team selection this season. With one exception, it hasn't mattered what XI have been on the pitch, the performances have all been shit. We've lacked the commitment to the pressing game that was our trademark last season and have reverted to the kind of middling identity-less performances that were the norm in Poch's first season before his methods set in. It feels to me like we have never recovered the team spirit that existed prior to last season's capitulation.

The whole CL campaign has been really meh. Playing at Wembley has proved a disaster (God help us in the league next season) and after the Monaco home game it's just felt so flat. Nothing like last time we were in it. We've look disinterested and lacking energy and tactically all over the place. Literally had no excitement from it this time whatsoever.

If this is how we're gonna be and perform in it I really don't care if we get top 4. It's been a soulless experience this time round. We're gonna be playing at Wembley again and it just feels detached, it's been a really weird experience. Considering we're not gonna win it or even compete, most likely rest players in order to repeat in some bizarre paradox I think I'd rather win the FA cup than get top 4 this season. I just feel as a club we need it. All this attract the best players shit is irrelevant to a club who don't pay over 100k.
