Huddlestone is the perfect player to play in the same side as Petrov and Bent. Two players who love to play off the last man and thrive on being released early. We saw today how effectively Bent and the Hudd can be, but we also saw how well the Hudd spreads the play and he kept trying to ping it out to Routledge. A more experienced player like Petrov will find more space than Routledge and the Hudd has the ability to release him 2 or 3 times a game.

Don't get me wrong. Huddlestone is a great passer but I still have concerns regarding his lack of mobility and ball winning skills

Well some Bulgarian sites say that Marto is flying to england to get in talks with Spurs. Martin himself declared that he wants to play for Spurs. He and Dimitar were in talks about this obviously because Mitko stated that he will not tell what the two were talking about.

I think Huddlestone's lack of mobility is slightly exaggerated. He looked fairly spritely when I saw him today. He may not be the quickest player but he won't need to be if he works on his positioning. Plenty of top class players that lack pace still manage at the highest level and I think Tom can also.

The thought of Petrov and Lennon on both wings with Huddlestone pinging balls out to them is sexual. :hump:

There are plenty alternatives for communication nowadays, they could be having a video conference and whatnot!

If the medical team says he is fit, even the janitory can sign the contract with him :hump:

True. But with any luck Dannyboy will be negotiating this anyway whilst he's away. If it does get done though I can't imagine we'll announce it until the club are back en masse from S.Africa.

Thats the quote from the mail:

Tottenham and Manchester City target Martin Petrov edged closer to a move to the Premiership last night after being allowed to leave Atletico Madrid's training camp to fly to London.

The Bulgaria winger, an international team-mate of Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov, is available for £6million.

Flying to London eh?

According to the Mail he is heading for LONDON. The only way we can lose this one is if City offer loads more cash to him.

boateng - bid accepted, talks gone quiet
petrov - coming to london for talks
swp - hearsay, Jol apparently wants him, no fresh bid made, chelsea want silly money
dyer - hearsay, no real ITK on this.

Spurs close on Petrov

Atletico Madrid midfielder Martin Petrov is reportedly close to a move to Tottenham.
Reports emanating from Spain claim Atletico have accepted an offer of nearly €9million (£6million) for the Bulgarian international.
Petrov, who had played down talk of the move earlier in the summer, is now understood to be in London to discuss a deal.
It had previously been suggested that the 28-year-old was collecting interest from Manchester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson.
However, it is thought that Petrov would favour a move to Tottenham because of the attraction of playing Uefa Cup football next season.
The transfer would also allow Petrov, who missed most of last season with a knee injury, to link up with his Bulgaria team-mate Dimitar Berbatov.

Great news if true.:)

Uefa Cup, Berbatov, top 5 finishes - 3 reasons why He'd choose us over Man City everyday of the week.

Though i think city will pick up under Sven.
