Saw in the Chelsea vs Palace and United games that their back four struggles with pace. I think Son has to play.

Three at the back simply isn't as effective without Rose. So the logical thing to do is play a back four. Next choice after that is who partners Dembele in the midfield two. Dier or Wanyama. One is better defensively, the other has a better range of passing. I don't see why you'd tamper with the front four right now. All of them are playing so well together. Working so hard. Looking so dangerous. If I was Chelsea and saw we were going with a back three without Rose and dropping Son, I'd be pretty happy. But starting our front four will give them pause. I also think that Wanyama owns Kante. So, the odd one out is Dier.

I'd start son with rose still out. He gives pace on the left and his work rate has come on tracking down and helping out davies.
With dier we can also swap formations during the game making us difficult to predict.
It's a dilemma for sure on the left without Rose. Agree with you re Son, but if you include Dier, presume you're dropping Wanyama. Vic took Kante out of the game last match. Stopped his surging runs through the middle, and even harried him when Kante was doing his defensive duties of trying to cut off our supply lines. Devil's choice, but I'd drop Dier.

Trying to match ManU tactics is a mistake imo. Stick with what worked at WHL when we beat them. Yes I know Rose is missing but we destroyed their midfield that day. There is more than one way to beat Chelsea.

No offense to anyone into line-up threads but after Pochettino has managed and marshaled Spurs so well this season I find such threads much less interesting now a days. It was very different, and more interesting to discuss this topic, under previous managers though.
But that's me.

Son must play he is on top form, if we don't play him we will regret it.

Spot on...and thats why Poch will play 4-2-3-1 imo

This game Dier will be sacrificed for the beast Wanyama who will be all over the rent boys.

Man U gave their defence major problems with Rashfords pace getting in behind them, it would be madness to drop Son , so Poch will have no option but to play 4-2-3-1 and i predict Dier will sit out.even though he has done nothing wrong, but Wanyama is a must for this one.

I do acknowledge we beat them earlier in the season playing with 3-5-1 but things have changed since then, Son's form and Rose absence.

You make your point well but Dier will play. Against Hazard and Costa he is a must for Poch (h's the closest thing we have to Herrera and he was mom today).
Still think Sonny will start on the bench and and play a vital part with his pace in last half hour if needed.

What a dilemma this is for Pochettino.
4-2-3-1 or 3-4-2-1?
Who misses out? Dier, Wanyama or Son.
Just cannot see Pochettino leaving Dier and Wanyama out against Chelsea.
Think we should match Chelsea and go
3-4-2-1 with Son ready to be unleashed from the bench...COYS

Lloris; Dier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen; Walker, Wanyama, Dembele, Davies; Eriksen, Alli; Kane

I agree with this. With a good chance the game could go to extra time, i imagine son is a lot better option to bring on for the bench than Dier. It's so so close to call though

Reckon the only change he will make is that he will bring Wanyama in for Dier.

Interesting challenge for Poch, does he go with the side that beat them last time or use Maureen's tactic of getting Herrera to stick to Hazard like a leech. I say - go with the way we play.

Wanyama's closer in style to Herrera, in my opinion. Dier likes to hold that pivot position in front of the CBs, whereas Wanyama likes the seek and destroy role, which is what Herrera did yesterday.

Harsh on Son, but I think the saying 'you need to earn the right to play' is the correct approach to this game. We need to start with 3 at the back and dominate their midfield.

When we have got control of the game and worn Chelsea down we bring on Son to finish them off.

On a side note, I'd also consider playing Trippier at left back rather than Davies. He is better defensively and his distribution with his left foot is probably better than Davies'. Davies shouldn't be getting anywhere near this team, IMO. Simply not good enough against the top teams and a liability.

Some tough calls for Poch to make.

Just goes to show you how little Chelsea offer in attack if Hazard is nullified.

Wanyama man marking him, and starting Son running at that changed back line is starting to appeal to me.

Even if Alonso is back, the change in goalkeeper, hopefully remains the case, is unsettling to that defense.

Deal with Hazard, and Wanyama is brillant at that hunter/gatherer role and hurt them where they're weak - a changed backline who havn't kept a clean sheet in ten?
