We'll probably sign Antonio for £40 mil on deadline day. Agree we're just not ambitious enough or our scouting is too poor to pick these players up early. Thank god for Poch.

Dele, Dier, Modric, Bale, Rose and Walker are all examples of us doing exactly what you accuse us of failing to do, i.e. Buy young potential before they become established internationals.
Naturally for every one of those successes you're always going to have a few Clinton N'jies, that's just the way it is.
Do you not think that Monaco and Porto have young players that don't work out too? Of course they do and like we have uncovered a Dele, they have uncovered a Lemar among them. You just don't hear about the young players at those clubs that fail to make the grade
You ask why we didn't sign player 'X' before he was a world class talent, like we're not trying too do exactly that with every young player we recruit.
It's got f*** all to do with us having a lack of ambition... we didn't sign GKN believing that it won't work out.

Surely finishing 3rd and then runners up last season in the premier league gives us a decent chance to sign players like this

I'm not being impatient it just has that hallmark of a transfer that we've seen many time. I'm actually really optimistic we will make some early signings this year. If you were Lemar and you'd won the league with Monaco and progressed as far as they did in the Champions League would you not hope to sign for Barca, Real, Juventus or Bayern? If we get him it will be because they didn't act and Chavski and Citeh didn't throw an open cheque book at him.
