If Levy's willing to back Poch with £30m for Sissoko on deadline day, I'm sure that if Poch told him to go in hard for Lemar and we had some cash from Walker then he'd be willing to sanction a big-money move.
He's proven that he'll back Poch, especially after the season we've just had, extra TV revenue and player sales.
The question is, why didn't he sooner? We spoke to both Mane and Wijnaldum before Liverpool, yes the former probably wanted wages too high for us but the latter seemed doable, we just baulked at £25m. Edit: Both actually even rumoured to be on similar wage as Sissoko £90k :dead:
We went from Batshuayi to Janssen because we didn't want to spend £32m. Now he may have been holding out for Chelsea and big wages, but we seemed to be tracking him for a while so must have had some nod from his agents.
I agree it's great he seemed to back Poch at the death, but that does confuse me.
I'm not so sure, Dan. Surely £142 million of prize/tv money can buy you an old musket with plenty of firepower!Indeed - we have to understand that financially we're fighting other clubs who have assault rifles with an old musket.

You're absolutely right mate. I'm just not sure how long he can go on justifying that policy when the revenue we receive from the tv deal is utterly astronomical. I don't think anyone believes we're forced to shop around for cheap bargains because we're short of a bob or two. I'd love to see us get this lad mate, not least because I think he's an awesome talent, but also to remind the world we're a fucking Big Club! It's not how we do business mate buy low sell high is our policy, whether you agree with it or not it's not changing anytime soon unless the club was sold on of course.
The problem with signing anyone from AS Monaco is always going to be the wages, it's a tax haven and the players there literally pay no tax. So just to match his wages he's on currently will be a 40% increase. Then there's the increase he'll want for moving club and with the new TV deal the agent will want even more as a Premier League tariff. Say he's on £60k a week already that would put him above our highest earners or in the same ball park. Doable maybe but he could triple his money elsewhere or sign a new improved contract with Monaco and pocket all that wonga
We hear what you're saying, but the lad is apparently on under 3k a week.
Wow . France international, crazy
I read somewhere when Lesniak played at the end of the season that he was on £2k a week !
He's youth though and was released today/yesterday. Lemar is a full international and playing in the CL. Still mental when you think about it Lesniak is/was on £104k a year and nowhere near the first team (until the last couple of games) puts real world salary and work into perspective
That salary is from 2015 when he arrived from Caen.We hear what you're saying, but the lad is apparently on under 3k a week.
We already have Son, Alli, Eriksen and Lamela - if we added one of Lemar or Forsberg there's no way we could convince the other to come.I'm from Sweden and watched the whole game against France. Lemar got 15 minutes. He was very lively and did more in his short time than Sissoko, Mbappe (also got 15 minutes) and Payet did togheter. Sign him and Forsberg and sell Sissoko and Nkodou. Forsberg is also a class player.

Yes I know what your saying when you see clubs in the bottom half of the table probably spending a lot of money on players and wages it can make me smile.
Of course at the moment the stadium is the reason why we are scrapping around for cheap deals, at least that will be what is thrown at you when you mention spending.
But I still can't see us changing much when the stadium is up and running I think levy loves this policy and wants to prove to everyone else that he can do it his way, I still think that in order to be the best you have to occasionally buy the best in their prime which maybe where problems may occur.
In the meantime we have to enjoy what we have and hope that a trophy maybe won.
