On the subject, I'm not sure that you'll ever be able to show me a more impressive highlight video, purely for the sentimental value of some of these goals.

The human condition will always leave us seeking more, and I'm not sure if all of us truly appreciate how great he was.

I remember having a cry wank to this when he left

I can see Real letting him go next summer if he has another so-so season. They'll no doubt sign Mbappe either this year or next, and Asensio looks some player too., And they'll probably keep on going after Hazard.

Bale turns 28 next week.

Let's say Madrid let him go for £75m, and his contract broke our wage structure. Would you really want to have your future transfer plans held up because you spent big on a 28yr old with extensive injury issues?

Yes

still a world class player when healthy (I worry about his injury proneness at this point) and still my favorite spur of all time and of course I'd welcome him back

not gonna happen though

Tbh I always thought Levy would want a marquee signing going into Wembley.Would give us massive bragging rights over those peasants across the way.

When Breezer said 'next season' I assumed he meant for 18/19.

Haha imagine this. Would be like when LeBron went back to Cleveland. Would be a dream come true.

Surely could never work financially but just imagine having that quality to add to such a strong team.

Levy will get Madrid to pay most of the wages and a majority of our fuel for the team bus I would of thought

If this information is true then you might as well lump on Bale joining United or City, as all it says to me is Madrid want rid of him and we have a first option clause that we blatantly won't ever use.

This is Levy's chance to make a statement? The only statements Levy makes are the ones accusing other clubs of tapping up our players with a view to squeezing a few extra million out of them!

But that's a debate for another thread.....

@Breezer:

A thread for an impossible, unbelievable but stuff of dreams roller coaster ride.. thoughts..?

Previous media reported news (for background):

Postscript; I have started the thread for discussion as a transfer rumour has emerged - don't ridicule me or think I believe it to be a particular goer!
Is there an icon more extreme than optimistic?

So... let's say Madrid wanted 87M for Bale today, and the player wanted 250k per week in wages on a five year deal (260 weeks).

Then there is 1 of 5 instalments left to pay us for the initial deal with Real. That's 18M.

We forfeit 18M pounds, pay them 69M, and bring the player home.

Then we sell Wimmer, Sissoko, and Walker. They bring in at least 80M pounds (In reality maybe more, but who cares at this point) and save us 150K per week in wages.

Then we increase merchandise & sponsor income with 3.1M pounds a year for 5 years due to the new signing.

Net profit on signing Bale: 0.5M pounds!
This is actually how you have to structure every proposal to the club

I've given you a winner rating to try and offset some of the negative rep that's going to come your way.
