his 13/14 and 15 season was the one - since then nothing, absolute dog shit. it would be like crediting the merit of Jay Rodriguez of 4-5 years ago as a signing today because he used to have potential

Got it. You think similar to JR that his injuries are the reason for this?

he is just incredibly bad, a less physical andros townsend

Personally think you're being overly critical of him. It's true that he's not quite lived up to his potential but he's only 22. He's not an out and out goalscorer, similar to Son in that respect, and if we were to sign him he'd be likely to fit onto the right side of our attack. He works very hard and loves to press, so I can see why Poch is interested. I've watched him have some bloody good games in Serie A, even without scoring, but his direct play has led to some good results for Sassuolo.

He's another example of a player with potential that fits Poch's style that he may think he can coach to get the best out of them. He may not be a big signing, but for the right price he's worth a punt, IMO. I'd much rather him than Sissoko out on the right. The comparison to Jay Rodriguez is quite accurate, to be fair. Similar style of player and one who has had a few injuries to set him back and not quite hit the heights. But at 22 he really has a lot left to give if put under the right coach.

literally in my life as an Italian-spurs supporter I have dreamed of having an Italian at Spurs - but i'd rather have sissoko than this guy, if that is any consolation of his ability

You are being ridiculously harsh. I was hugely impressed with him when I watched him a couple of years ago, he looked amazing. He has had a tough couple of years since then but I've seen enough of him to know he has a lot of ability and with the right coach and motivation he could be great. I'd be excited if we get him.

Can anyone answer as to why his last two seasons have been less than half of the numbers he put up the two seasons before? People say injuries but he's playing 20+ games a season...

He missed about 4 months last season due to a knee injury.

First of all injuries disrupted him. Secondly he plays for a mid table club who often sell & fortunes change. He has IMO done enough prior for us to take a chance on him.

Not sure who the Italian league player will be; but find it fascinating that we are keeping this quiet this long , among Italian media who are known for BS rumour stories & random links

On my FM save pretty much all of his attacking attributes are 15+ and he regularly scores double figures off the wing.

Never seen him play live. Get him in.

Trying to gauge if a player is good or not that you haven't seen from spurs community player threads.

Why unrealistic? For starters he plays for Sassuolo not Juve. So there is salary pull, CL & better team.Given his stopstart last season fee may not be high as well
Yeah, I know where he plays. Ask your self what kind of price you think Sassuolo would want. Ask your self if you think Levy would pay that. Ask your self if there are other players in Serie A of the same age, the same level of risk, the same level of assumed potential and a cheaper price tag.

To me, the answers are "extremely high", "no", and "yes".

No I don't see it that way. He is very much attainable

sometimes players that had/have potential, but appear to have faltered a little or progression slowed, need a change of scene, new club, a coach with new/different ideas to help them kick on and get back on track etc.
I don't think anyone can dispute what MP has managed to achieve with some of our players that seemed to have lost their way a little or hadn't lived up to a previous billing.
if MP wants him, I'm all for it.

If he is in fact available, and you might be right, somebody else will come in for him and swoop him up. He is too well known for Spurs to be able to snag him under the noses of other clubs, IMO:

.
Exactly right. And that makes Berardi a good choice, however there are other, a little bit less known Serie A players who could fit this gambling category for a lot less money.

You play too much Football Manager, and don't watch enough Serie A.

I think he has potential, and was exciting a few years back. But he is not some sought after wonderkid. None of the Italian giants or other European elite have signed him, have they?
