And yes, it should have been a pen, should have had two pens actually but if we are relying on pens to beat a team then it's not a fucking good day at the office really is it?

Poch does have these brain farts every now and then, just keep it simple FFS! Give up on Sissoko and start putting Winks back in for Dembele.

All felt very Spursy.

sorry to pick on you but this illustrates so much of what is wrong among the fan base. There is a lot of reporting that Poch and co are worried about Winks injury. Dembele can't play 2 games in a week. Davies may need some physical managing after intense play in the last two games....Poch looked at his players energy levels and played the right ones....didn't work out perfectly but we were more than good enough to win.

Wembley clearly is a problem.

Dortmund was the exception purely because they defended with a line level with the half way line.

Poch hasn't done anything to address it in 12 months.

Hogwashy bullshit.

Both Burnley and Swansea came to defend to the hilt. One side got lucky and the second held their game plan. If a pitch five whole yards longer and a yard or two wider is the issue then we need eleven new signings come January.

We had similar disappointing results last season. It's plain stupid to think that away teams struggling to stay in the PL are going to try and come and play us with an expansive, open style of play.

It's up to Poch and his coaches to figure a way around it.

Got you on ignore because you're a bit of a **** innit. But, took a peak at this post and I totally agree.

The problem with Dele is he thinks he's the finished product.
This is ABSOLUTELY the problem with Dele -Alli macho spunk and flicks but very little footballing prowess (at this moment in time) - would do him the world of good to be subbed and not to be seen to be guaranteed a place week in and week out. He's done very little this season - popping up once a game for two goals does not save him from my current concern and wrath. His ego needs a rollicking quite frankly.

lot of OTT stuff. Dembele can't play more than one game a week. Anyone think Davies might have needed a break after two intense efforts at LB?

On a different day 2 penalties, Kane scores from 3 yards, Alli from 4 and there is nowt to worry about.
Barnsley at Wembley and then 3 away games in a row.
If Davies needed a rest then rest him and play KWP in that position.why was davies even on the bench in that case.poch got the team selection massively wrong and only made matters worse with his late changes.

We should have easily beaten Swansea with the team and set up that we started with.

Whenever we have the chance to counter, we are SO slow and lethargic. By the time we get moving towards the opposition goal, they're all back in position and ready to defend. The extra 5m makes a huge difference.

No, because it was the wrong selection to be most effective. We still had to go out there today and perform.

That's like saying we play our best available 11 against them and then go out there only needing to play 70% and expect to win. Doesn't work like that.

You start with the correct team to help build maximum momentum through a game and maximise attacking effectiveness.

If nothing else, you must get your key areas right.

He's 21, a two time YPOTY award winner, 30 goals for the club in two seasons and a half yeah he's terrible and should ride the bench wtf dude

But what has he brought to the game THIS season?

YPOTY awards all all good and fine, but they don't put three points in the bag against relegation fodder.

8 goals and 6 assists in 16 games since 5 March. thats dog shit?

It's not really about his output, his goals and assists can't be argued, it's more about his general levels of application and making poor choices on the ball. He's young and will only get better but I just think he believes his own hype a little too much and it's detrimental to the team.

Lots of complaints about the stadium, tactics and team selection, but if you're looking for someone/something to blame, how about the thing that really cost us the win today: Mike Dean. We should have had at least two penalties.

75% possession, 26 shots, 11 corners, 5 penalty appeals, hit the bar etc. We may not have been at our best, but we really didn't play badly. The only thing that was missing was us hitting the back of the net and the ref making fewer awful decisions.
You don't go about setting up your tactics with penalties in mind. That is not something you can control. And there was only 1 stonewall penalty missed. The others were debatable.

Mate, the 11 we put out were vastly superior to theirs. The better teams usually win. We didnt today.

Poch always think we deserved more. Ffs, I think Poch overthinks too much.. We created but our chances were not clear cut, how do we deserve anything out of that?

You are correct Gaz.
My high-end Footy analyst journo mate - said exactly the same...It's 500 square meters of extra ground - don't underestimate its affect at this level of high-end athleticism - we need to ADAPT to it and we haven't yet.
For the doubters - we do NOT have HOME advantage yet - we do not know the pitch or the ground as well as we knew WHL...It is as alien to us as it is to the away teams at this moment in time.
The flip side? I think we'll have a "no fear away from home" attitude this season to compensate.
I expect a great away record, an average home record and then for us (if we stick together) to be absolutely immense next season at our new home.
I also expect us to "adapt" to our new home as the season evolves and to feel so comfortable there - that come April - we'll wash Chelski aside and win a cup this season.

I think he only had a shocking 10 minutes today as well (which included that misread header). Rest of the game he won free kicks in dangerous positions constantly or kept possession well with 2/3 defenders breathing down his neck/raking his achilles and the rest of their team less than 10 yards away.

It works both ways, though.

Against teams who come to sit back, we cant seem to break them down and against teams who attack us, we leak goals.
