He's been absolutely horrific this year and shouldn't be near the starting lineup in the form he's in.

In just about all the teams above us he would be spending a lot more time on the bench on current form. With Lamela back in the fray we have have more options in the forward third which will be good for the team.

Alli is young and very talented, but in our team he has the burden of being one of the main men we rely on so heavily. He is now a known quantity in the PL, but far from the finished article. He has bundles of talent and needs to keep learning to realise his potential. It would be a waste of raw talent if he continues to make the same mistakes during games as he does now

I've been a firm advocate of keeping Dele in the team during his dip in form. He's a mercurial player, and young, so his form will come and go. So I'm absolutely not one of those who's down on him.

But he should have gotten a red card at the weekend. That "tackle" was a shocker. He said he'd learn after his last horror tackle - the one in the CL - but he's clearly struggling to do that.

Playing him through the bad form hasn't worked and if anything he's getting worse now and it's frustrating him which leads to the type of shit we saw Saturday. It has to be remembered this kid is more or less growing up without parents and he clearly has issues in his life but he needs some tough love at the moment and taking him out of the team should be the first part. Poch will sort him out eventually but he has to learn that he can't go around doing those kind of challenges. 'That' Chelsea game was fun because it was just hard tackling but I can't stand seeing one of our players doing one of those over the top studs out ankle bending lunges, it's bang out of order.

I wonder if he'll pick up form if he signs a new bumper contract with us?

If he signs of course.

I just see the same sort of stuff a young Beckham went through... Petulance, a bit of complacency, maybe a spot of trying too hard to fulfill the eye catching stuff rather at expense of the basics. But ultimately he's a hungry young footballer, who loves and lives the game, you see he wants to do well, and he no doubt is a model player in training each day... Otherwise he wouldn't get in the team.

Like Ferguson with Becks I have confidence that Pochettino can steer the lad through this to his potential... Which is immense as we know. He's an outstanding footballer and a good lad, and I'm sure this dip will be overcome and then some. The player he was last season was mightily impressive, but the player he can become is truly special.

Such a fine line so many young English talents have fallen by the wayside. Once wanyama is back if Poch decides to go with 3 at back ,you could be looking at Son eriksen Lamela dele fighting over 2 places.Actually be interesting to see him drop back to CM alongside wanyama.

I don't remember Ferguson being all that bothered about Keane and Scholes leaving a foot in every now and then (and picking up the suspensions that followed), and he seemed to know a thing or two about managing successful teams. In fact, I imagine he was quite happy to have opposing players worrying about a possible reducer coming their way.

His form dipping as a result of starting to believe the hype?

Always a worry when players start using personal hashtags etc promoting them as a 'brand'.

Poch was a naughty player himself... He may tell Dele to tone it down a bit, but he'll not want to remove that from his game completely.

Some would argue he’s actually playing no worse than last year, except the goals have dried up.

He isn't, but when he was scoring and assisting every week people didn't seem to give a shit that a lot of what else he did was slipshod.

Alli obviously hasn't been at his level but I do think there's been some scapegoating. When you look at everyone's current darling (before they bin him off after a few bad performances) son, dele really doesn't compare that badly. Or even when you compare him to two players I've seen many on here we should get to potentially replace alli

If alli can't do 5 yard passes as some have suggested well then neither can alli from last year, pulisic, son or richarlison

It's disappointing the mainstream media have latched onto it this week aswell, I've seen some boarder line scanderlous headlines about dele this week, just shows the media don't actually give a shit about players or English football: just clicks

I've never said that I view Son as any more reliable or permanently more viable to Alli, I don't. But I did argue that no player should be undroppable, and a couple of months ago that with a player like Son in our squad, Alli should have been benched/rested for at least a couple of weeks, I think it would have done him physically and mentally good, rested him physically and mentally, helped him realise that even when he's not producing, performances and what he does without the ball too cannot drop below certain acceptable levels and some of the careless wastage has to be reduced.

Some would argue he’s actually playing no worse than last year, except the goals have dried up.

Compared to last season:

Plays less passes (38.7/35.6), with similar completion (80/81%) - but creates slightly more chances (1.51/1.98).

Shoots less often (2.79/2.34), including less long shots (1.02/0.80), and yet is half as likely to hit the target (59/32%).

Makes less take-ons (1.51/1.32) with pretty much identical success rate (41/40%).

Wins significantly less tackles (1.13/0.73), but does get booked less (0.12/0.07).

So overall he’s less involved in the play - not passing as much, not dribbling as much, not tackling as much. When he does get involved, he can create chances, but his dribbling is still poor and his shooting has gone to pot.
