Hugo: 6 - Made a meal of their goal. Otherwise pretty good game.
Trippier: 7 - Not very notable in a positive or negative way today.
Sanchez: 8.5 - Absolutely massive performance from him. His strength and pace got us out of some tough situations.
Verts: 8 - Very good performance.
Davies: 7 - Technically assisted Eriksen's goal. Got caught out frequently, but he was in a difficult spot today and did fine.
Dembele: 7.5 - Solid performance. Somewhat sloppy in the first half though.
Dier: 8 - Great assist, good defending, didn't lose his head for once against chelsea.
Eriksen: 9 MOTM - Still our key player imo. Creates everything, and sometimes even for himself. Changes the whole complexion of the game with one kick of the ball.
Dele: 8.5 - Had a rough go in the first half, punished chelsea the second.
Lamela: 8.5 - He runs and runs and kicks and kicks and screams and I love him.
Son: 7 - Not his best game, but trying to utilize him as a target man first half was a strategic move. He was better in the second half when he got more looks from the wing.

Great performance. Eriksen MOTM. I think he’s our most important player, hope he signs a new contract this summer!

Thought Dier was excellent today. Shame that some tools look for every opportunity to call him shit.

Taken from the England thread for example:

I've just started the second half, but first 50 minutes Dier has been fucking turgid. He cannot step past a man, so unless he receives the ball in space all he does is shuffle it backwards to someone standing 4 yards from him.

In an ideal world, I wouldn't have OC and Lingard in there, I'd have Wilshire, Winks or Lallana, but Dier is captain fucking slow, he's like a human hand brake. And if he played for anyone else he'd be getting mullered for his performance on here.

Henderson's no Alonso either, but at least he can move with the ball and has a bit of dynamism about him.

Eriksen was brilliant, but this was Alli's day, scoring 2 to shut up southgate.
All were good, but Davies looked a bit jet lagged.
It goes to show how far Rose has fallen, that he wasn't even brought on as a late sub.
And Alderweireld too, not even on the bench.

this is such a strange feeling... this was not a stand out performance. i think spurs have palyed better against chelsea and lost. But now we are able to win games without having to perform out of our skins. in the end our offensive quality was too much for chelsea.

Ali was MoTM for me.. Led the creative charge.

Oh the Eriksen-haters in the match thread - awkward :whistle:
Hating on our most important player is another discussion. Pathetic really.

Back to the topic:
Lloris with another mistake in a big game - i'm tired of it. Else he did great.
Defense was OK, Jan always very good. Sanchez OK, but you feel he could make a mistake leading to a goal anytime. Like he almost did in the end, just happy it was Kante at the end of the ball.
Dier OK, didn't get to much help from Dembele who I thought was our "worst" player today - didn't click for him at all.
Our attacking players with Eriksen and Dele in front (my MOTM) was pretty good. Missing Son a bit, and very hard work as always from Lamela who I cannot understand didn't get a single card today - could have been both colors.

If Dier and Dembele were so poor, how comes we totally bossed the midfield? They both put in a proper shift and beasted Fibreglass and Kante.

I will give it to Jan. Defended like a man possessed. In Toby's absence and what looks like an eventual departure, Vertonghen has been as important to the team as Kane or Eriksen.

h.

It just goes to show how quickly the club is evolving.
12 months ago we wouldn't have dreamt that Toby and Rose being left out would have been possible/ acceptable.
But now it feels great to be in this position that Poch can leave out rebels and others are stepping up to the mark!
Long may it continue.

To be fair, I think both were pretty culpable of a number of poor passes and lack of awareness in the first half. Nobody in the team was really on it for the first 43 mins, but the middle two looked at sea at times. BUT they both turned it around the second half and played with more brains and less stress and ended gamr being great. Diers long ball for Dele an obvious highlight.

I dont get placing too much blame on Hugo just like I dont get people placing blame on Caballero for Eriksen’s wonder strike. Both just great goals. Think people were way too harsh on Hugo.

It’s Hugos fault plain and simple. If you come out as a goalkeeper you must get some of the ball

Puts Sanchez off too

If he stays in goal it’s a completely different scenario

End of

Dele & Eriksen my MOTM

Sanchez, Dier & Lamela not too far behind either

Brilliant result

We were the better side basically from when Chelsea scored, but didn’t really create anything until the second half. Then we absolutely dominated. So happy for Dele too after all the ridiculous agenda driven bile in the media this past week.

Lloris was fine, dealt with everything he needed to and was unlucky on the goal when he was damned if he did, damned if he didn’t.

Trippier was the better of two fullbacks but the bar wasn’t too high. Much better in the second half, linking well with Son.

Sanchez was very good, very strong and very focussed to not get beaten by Chelsea’s rapid front three.

Vertonghen I felt was imperious, some brilliant strong interceptions and well timed, committed tackles. Did well to make up for the lack of protection Davies gave him. My MOTM.

Davies was our worst player, showed up all game by Moses and was poor with his passing. Didn’t seem his usual steady self and I have no idea where he was for their goal.

Dier was poor first half, better in the second half where he was far more proactive in stopping Chelsea’s front three. Beautiful assist.

Dembele was passed by in the first half by he grabbed the game second half and really bossed Kane and Fabregas.

Lamela was not involved first half, on the periphery and not effecting anything. Better second half, linked play far more and an absolute warrior off the ball.

Dele also improved second half, much more involved and far better with his movement. Both goals showed wonderful skill and composure. Displayed all his best qualities and shut up the idiot media.

Eriksen was unlucky not to be MOTM. Good first half, great second half, amazing goal, constantly involved in all our best play, sublime pass for Son building up to our third goal.

Son was not his best, never overly got in the game and was a little selfish but his darting run into Eriksen pass leading to our third was beautiful.

Kane was unselfish and acted as a focal point.

Wanyama looked fitter than he has done.

Sissoko came on.

Pochettino deserves credit for the most subtle tactical tweak to turn a first half performance which lacked penetration into a second half performance which dominated, toyed with Chelsea and fully deserved the victory.

Agree with the lot except eriksen edging MOTM over Jan

I think you could only level blame at Lloris if he has called that and it has effected Sanchez' effort to head it away.

As it would have been a goal whether Hugo had come or not. (Barring Sanchez clearing it)

Hard to pick man of the match between Ali and Eriksen.

A lot of good performances today.

Conte is hanging on by a thread to his job ( not that he wants it )

Great match. Sanchez may have had a couple of sloppy passes but covered wonderfully all match. Dele MOTM barely over Eriksen for me. Dele was chasing down lost causes and was a real thorn winning balls back not to mention getting the goals.

...Alli a man on a mission - MOTM...
...Sanchez runner up for keeping us in it as we floundered in the 1st half...
...it seems obvious that our FBs are our weakness - Poch seems to use them as decoys to stretch the defending back line so we can try to play through the middle, but won't trust them to take the ball to the byline and possibly get caught upfield...

In the pub it felt like Sanchez was
Involved in a lot of very important interventions when the game was in the balance so I’ve gone him until I see a full replay.
