A defeat was coming. Aside from S’ton & Fulham, our performances haven’t been good enough. We need to beat Leic and then Conte needs a plan to get us back in groove before NLD.

A game that I hope time will erase from my memory. Dreadful defending and a lack of concentration on 90 mins. Conte warned against this prior to the match.

Lloirs. Richie. Bentancur. Kulu. Decent.

Noone else.

Lack of energy was a bit concerning and stank of the spurs that saw off Poch, Jose, Nuno. Hopefully just a bad day at the office. Something isn't clicking.

Was kane wearing weights on his ankles?

Lloris MOM. Bentancur worked his nuts off but ran out of steam at the end while Conte kept Bissouma on the bench. Kane just dreadful. Sonny needs dropping, same as the past 2 or 3 games. Kulusevski must start the next game. At least Richarlison was putting in the effort.

Next game I want to see Lenglet, Kulu and Doherty or Spence at a bare minimum. Bissouma needs minutes on the pitch too but fuck knows when he'll get a chance.

Conte 4 - boring, painful football. He made Marseille look good and sporting look better. His tactics are why Spurs have had more success in UCL than Conte

I thought Richy was the main threat again. Son was probing away but I don't even know if Kane was trying

The rest of the team did what Conte wanted and the result reflected Conte's record.

I feel sorry for the players having to play this dire football. 2 in the mid means there is no option for transitioning through the middle unless it's over the top as there is no central playmaker. It just allows the opposition to let the ball go wide and contain us.

People are so in love with Conte that they will accept that every single wing back we have is shit. Doherty and Royal had good records in the season before they joined us.

The good thing is we still have a chance to get through the group stages

Lloris quality saves and couple of great takes on crosses, our stand out player and easily MOTM

Emerson just useless in the attacking third and beaten too easily for second goal, Spence must be showing nothing in training as this guy is average at best. Romero ok, Dier still looking for his head after Edwards cork screwed him. Davies is what Davies has always been very poor with possession. Perisic was OK and would be nice if our striker was actually in the box.

Bentancur was energetic and decent but he won’t change games. PEH was poor in possession and was lucky not to be dragged as he was a negative in the centre.

Son another poor game and no way he should be keeping Kulu on the bench playing like this. Kane so poor in possession at times and don’t know if it was tactical but he was missing from the box, that’s where he’ll score. Ricarlison can’t fault his effort, lazy on the offsides though.

subs well Kulu injected some life but where were the others. Davies and PEH were passengers, Emerson was useless. Why not change them.

Conte not his finest performance too passive when he needed to do better and too tolerant of poor players out there today.

This sums up the players, the coaching and the game perfectly.

I know a lot want to blame Conte. And he does indeed shoulder a portion of the blame. He was too passive and predictable.

However, the team as a whole were lackluster. Worst game I have seen from PEH in a long time. Yet again, Harry and Son looked like they were running in molasses. Kane in particular. His touch was awful. Made some pitiful passes. And just looks to be a yard off the pace. As for Sonny... like Kane, leaden touch and movement. Zero confidence.

This is also the second time we have conceded a goal with Romero and Royal being too passive. Or tired. Mitrovic's goal was somewhat similar in that they both were tasked with closing him down and both went about it half-arsed.

I like Perisic a lot. But he is not a good defender. That showed today.

What also was evident, is that we only have one player on the team who can take on and dribble past a player: Kulu. Whereas Sporting realized half way through the first half that the best tactic against us was to take players on 1:1. The amount of missed tackles there were was crazy. And Edwards was so unlucky not to score with that run. It reflected everything we have lacked lately. It was full of purpose, pace and guile. A set of traits that we can't seem to tap into at the moment.

Lloris made some great saves, and was easily our MoM.

Lastly, time for Conte to quit this crap with starting the same chuffing X1 every match. He wanted a deeper squad. We delivered. Yet, he isn't using it. Makes no sense.

Kulu for me.
Lloris made some world class saves but has to take a share of the blame for the late goals.

It was a poor performance and I wonder if more than one are more interested in avoiding injury before the world cup.

If he’d scored after that run in the 1st half it would have been one of the goals of the tournament
Great to see a Spurs Academy player doing so well. That was his 150th first team appearance; a pity only one of those was for Tottenham.

Lloris has to be MOTM.
But this was very much a wake-up call and I really hope Conte makes some changes.
As much as I hate to say it, we needed a loss like this to get everyone to realise we're definitely not there yet.
We've actually flattered to deceive with our unbeaten run - apart from Southampton and Fulham, we've just been lucky.

Lloris - solid 8 out of 10, some fantastic saves ti keep it to 2.

Perisic - another one of the 3 who escape my criticism, did well for me.

Romero- Still seems to be struggling with a niggling injury, way off his usual performances.

Dier - very poor, bounced off Marcus edwards when he did that silky run, should
Never happen with his frame - seems to be regressing again.

Davies - Clumsy & cumbersome.

Royal - love his enthusiasm, and looks to make things happen, he’s just not very good in the role.

Hojbjerg - seemed to struggle.

Bentancur- did okay, one of 3 that maybe escapes criticism.

Son - going through one of his shit periods, difference this time is he has someone able to take his spot, needs dropping.

Kane - woeful, never seen him miss pace so many easy passes, looks absolutely shattered already.

Rixharlison - work horse, did well with the service he had.

Kulusevski - done more in 3 minutes than son has done all season.

Conte - the fact he is persisting with son when he is woefully out of form is mind boggling, and for some reason just will not give spence a look in. Honeymoon period over. Time to start earning your coin Antonio.

it is annoying, our so called amazing academy & training facilities, yet we still can’t seem to give our most talented youngsters the opportunity to do well with us.

(Site is weird today. If I give a green positive tick it goes to a new place where I must confirm my tick...then it doesn't take me back to the right place. End of all future ticking from me if this continues .Also unable to post unless as a reply as I get sent gawd knows where...plenty of 'OOops we've got it wrong')

Anyway probably a good thing this smack in the face result. Its in the CL group stage so we can repair the damage hopefully. Then, at last the 'We're playing badly but getting results so all is well and going to get better crew' are finally shown the door .
Playing badly is simply playing badly whatever the result and is NOT a good thing .

I would put Kane's (3) performance up there with the worst I've ever seen from him. He couldn't even control simple short passes. He's been scoring tap ins and headers, but has been way off it all season. His lack of effort really shows up when he's in such appalling form.
Son (4) well no need to labour how badly he has started this season. These 2 played like they'd just completed a half marathon before starting. Start Kulu Son on bench.
Richie (7) His effort shows up the other forwards for just how disengaged/disinterested they were.

We have 5 subs wtf is Conte(4) doing ?..has something happened behind the scenes..training sessions too fierce ?

Anyway, as I say a good place for us to hit rock bottom. Over to you Antonio. Sort It please .

Really goes to show how important it is to exercise patience. While I know, it is easy to say that now in hindsight, as it would seem from those behind the scenes, that he wasn't covering himself in glory. But, I'm delighted that the young man (with so much potential) has developed and evolved. He's only 23? If he keeps on excelling, I have no doubt some of the bigger teams in Italy, Spain, Germany will be paying attention. Same with the PL. Also, helps that he is as Sporting. As the big teams in that league charge and arm and a leg for their best talent. So, if he has a monster season (or two), he will attract big money. Who knows? Maybe even an England call-up may be on his horizon.

Here’s the thing though, Conte is notorious for not rotating his teams. I said as much during the transfer window when everyone in the transfer forum was trying to argue why we need 6 wing backs and 7 centre mids.

Just because we have upgraded squad depth I couldn’t see him suddenly turning into Pep and rotating every match. Especially when his lack of rotation has seen him win trophies throughout his career.
