I see the cult of KWP are out in force tonight
This year's Jonathan Blondel / Jamie Slabber / Rohan Ricketts / Adel Taraabt / Zeki Fryers / Marcus Edwards - a young player that people only seem to think is good because they haven't had enough game time to play worse than the established first teamer getting picked in their position. I remember a teenage Phillip Ifil playing well at RB in a 1-1 draw against Liverpool and then a 1-0 win away at Newcastle back when they were good under Bobby Robson. Think he got released by a non-league club a few years later...
Given Poch's record of fast-tracking talented youngsters I'd be highly doubtful of KWP being what some of you think he is. Happy to give him a chance to see what he can do but he'd have likely been a rabbit in the headlights if thrown in at the deep end last night. And that kind of baptism of fire can destroy young players with fragile confidence.
Back on topic - Trippier is badly out of form and I can't think of many big teams who play with RBs as slow as he is. He needs someone fast to play alongside him as part of a back three (eg - Walker for England) to make it work. Though I do find it funny how many people who after the Newcastle game immediately declared Aurier as not fit for purpose and that Trippier had to be first choice are now saying the exact opposite.
