Still a bit puzzled as to how and why we got so little from Poch in that second half. It seemed unfortunately as if it was one of those occasions he sometimes has where he freezes and does nothing as the patterns of the game unfold in front of him.

Granted the bench options were poor (also his responsibility, but lets ignore that for now) but I'd expect something to be done to attempt to stem the flow. Station Son and Moura high on either touchline and try and pin back their Wingbacks and stop the combos/overloads down the flanks, Go to a back three and get Rose on and match the shape, free up Sissoko from that holding midfield/auxillary fullback nothing role he reverted to today and get him driving forward through the centre, etc. It was clear the narrow formation, even if it's been good for us recently, wasn't working today.

We just limped on though until disaster struck and never changed tack. That was the annoying thing for me.

This game would have been perfect for a back 3 with Foyth and Sanchez next to Alder, We could have rested a cm especially considering Sons positioning this game anyway.

I do want to run the back 3 out some more in the second half of the season. If we aren't going to address fullback in the winter market the Ajax three should be able to stabilize the defense.

I just feel like we need to accept our fullbacks weaknesses if we aren't going to sign new ones anytime soon and we should have taken advantage of the fact our cm's are running on empty by resting one and allowing our fullbacks to push up.

No but if we cannot beat Wolves at home when it is moderately important I cannot see us turning it on when it really matters like manure last year and Chelsea before that. We should be winning that game 9 out of every 10 times played.

City lost to palace and Leicester. It's the premier League. It's tough. Nothing to do with pressure but more to do with having winks and sissoko play every minute for the last 3 games in the most demanding positions on the pitch

If we could have played s fresh Wanyama dier Dembele we probably would have won this

Was sat behind dug out, Skipp was ready to come on. Think it was when the second goal went in then he changed his mind. Nobody else came on. At 2 or 3-1 down why not put GKN on? What do you have to lose? Already losing anyway right? GKN has pace and could have injected something into our play with actual fresh legs.

Levy has to strengthen is in January. Even if it isn’t for world beaters, we desperately need another CM option. Don’t see Dembele or Wanyama returning and adding much value.

I agree. It’s about time our scouts did their fucking jobs and picked us out some decent players.

So I didn't see any of the results today and started to watch MOTD after a long day out. Pool up first and absolutely thumped arsenal and in the post match interview with alexander arnold the interviewer said how good is it they are 9 points clear. It was at that moment I knew we lost.

FFS.

Should have had a pen with erisken. Fair play to wolves, they came and played good football and won

Don't even necessarily think its the scouts. We've had ITK and links to some really good prospects/players the last few seasons.. Cengiz Under, Ross Barkley, Ricardo Pereira, just off the top of my head.

Watching MOTD it’s unbelievable how our Heads dropped when they equalised but even more so when the second went in.

Very very strange. Like the players just gave up and accepted defeat, they looked like they knew they had no answer. No belief whatsoever which isn’t something you normally level at this side.

I sincerely hope it was pure fatigue. Sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition but I Poch set us up all wrong today. He didn’t change it either when he had the chance.

I wondered if this was the case. I rarely go to games so I can’t comment on atmosphere but i thought if we played this at home instead of Wembley the crowd would pull us through. This is what Poch has been alluding to recently.
Exactly. The crowd around me just didn't get involved enough .

I watched the game live on a stream and Wolves completely deserved to get something from the game from their second half performance compared to our lack of intensity. If it is down to fatigue that is completely excusable but what wasn't excusable is the lack of reaction from the sidelines to bring on fresh legs. It's easy to say in hindsight but we didn't get going in the second half and we didn't react. Once they were 2-1 up they effectively shut up shop and hit us on the counter, but by that point it was already too late to react.

This isn't meant to be a horrible knee-jerk reaction as fully appreciate the amazing run we've been on this season, but so disappointed in the manner we surrendered the game today

There were a lot of tired players in white on that pitch today and it showed in our poor passing and heavy touches.
I just don’t get how we look so much more tired then Liverpool do. I realise we had more players at the World Cup but Liverpool press twice as much as we do and they very rarely rotate. We on the other hand, ether through injury or Poch rotate a lot yet we looked exhausted. I understand someone like Kane being exhausted, but did Eriksen or Winks really play that much more then Firminho or Mane. Davies didn’t even go to the World Cup and he looks dead.

To me today is a mixture of everything. Fatigue, atmosphere, squad depth thanks to injuries etc.

Wolves also came with a game plan and executed really well. Funny thing was, Traore went off (assume due to injury) and until then he was their most dangerous player. Instead, they played even better going forward. Their away support was nonstop from minute one, can't be a coincidence if that helped spur the side on at 1-0 down to keep going.

Despite that, we showed nothing whatsoever. When Kane scored (beauty by the way) thought we'd go on like we did against Bournemouth. Just did not happen. We had our best front four on too. The only players who came out with any dignity were Toby and Sanchez. If not for them it would have been much worse.

Both Poch and players must shoulder the blame together. Lads on pitch for long spells second half couldn't string two passes together, and Poch for not making subs or changing things quick enough. Felt well sorry for Skipp when he was told to go sit back down seconds before going on. Don't understand why he didn't just use GKN. Not even wanting to give him a try.

Adrenaline and confidence from being top (and unbeaten) can do great things I guess. Coupled with a tight stadium with a rocking atmosphere like Anfield. They also played Friday, we played Sunday last weekend. Might not seem like it, but those days can and actually do make a difference.
