A year ago it would have been a pipe dream, but the way they've been treated this season could mean that Bale, Isco and maybe even Asensio could be available this summer. A big name signing like that would appease most fans I would imagine

What does this have to do with us? :ROFLMAO:

The last two have Juve written all over them.

Sissoko is one of the first names on the team sheet, absolutely imperative to the way we play, it honestly is amazing that some people still can't see the value he brings to the team.
Isn't it fair to see a player at likely his max value, who's game is mostly based around athleticism and will turn 30 next season. Thats not a recipe for long term success. With looking at Trippier, IMO, its a good time to cash in on Sissoko who has been bad far more than he has been good during his tenure.

I don't think that should be a controversial idea. Especially until the club proves to us it is no longer operating on a zero net spend policy.

Not a dig at you at all, but what it is about our transfer policy that makes people think that Bale, Isco or Asensio are remotely realistic targets?

What are we operating a football club or an investment company?

I can see why people are suggesting they would replace Sissoko with quality for the future. His age, and yes he started badly for us.

However in terms of this season, and a squad place for next year. For me he’s been out best centre mid this season.

Have injuries to other players played a part in that? Yes, absolutely.

Are there more technically able and ‘talented’ players in the squad? Again, absolutely.

Does any of that take away from the fact he has been one of our stand out performers this season. Absolutely not. He deserves to be here next season and further if he can hold this level.

Unfortunately its a football club being operated by an investment company.

Think this is been our problem over the years that has hampered our ability to push on.

Selling Sissoko at this moment in time wouldn't make sense and it would send out the wrong message to the other players.

Look, if he keeps it up I'm more than happy to keep him. But knowing how this team operates I would lean towards selling and getting good value out of an aging player who has been bad more often than he has been good during his time here. I said it with Trippier this summer and got killed for it. I'm not saying we need to sell Kane or Eriksen because of their high value. Just looking at it situationally with players.

SC logic, bemoan the lack of transfer activity especially as the club are short of midfielders.

Happily be in favour of selling a key midfielder despite being short of numbers in midfield.

In my scenario we are buying a new CM and a new DM. Kovacic or Rabiot and Berge ideally. That leaves us with Kovacic/Winks for one spot and Dier/Berge at the other. That is plenty depth especially with Skipp coming through the ranks.

If we can use 15 mil from Sissoko to put towards the budget for a really good midfielder we should be all over that.

Sky claiming we have an interest in Copenhagen winger Robert Skov. Scored 22 in 24 in the Danish league this season. Those numbers catch the eye but sneaking up a weak league isn’t always the best indication of talent i.e Janssen.
I like that we look at the smaller leagues but Id stay away from Robert Skov. He's got a cannon of a left foot, but has got the pace of a snail and a lot of his goals are a result of atrocious keeping.

If were looking at anybody from the danish league it should be Andreas Skov Olsen of Nordsjaelland. 3 years younger, pacier and technically more proficient.

Agreed.

Even back in summer with Trippier having a good World Cup, there was a niggling part of me that was thinking sell now whilst he's market value is sky high and re-invest the money to freshen things up as he isn't going to get any better.

Also, re: Sissoko, yes he has proven really good lately but as his game does rely on athleticism he could deteriorate suddenly wrong side of 30 and may also be a good time to sell in summer (and wisely re-invest in new midfielders).

The same could be said how long we held onto Dembele with the argument being how important he was then suddenly his physical condition worsened and we hardly had him available (although still got a pretty decent fee considering he only had 6 months left on contract).

The key is though the money MUST be re-invested wisely, otherwise pointless to sell off two players who are first choice at present.

The most well run clubs know when it's time to cash in and freshen things up (like Sir Alex at Man U), although we've not really proven capable of doing that as often we are caught short buying lesser replacements, which does make suggestion of selling Sissoko risky.

Perfectly put. It would be my hopes we would invest the money properly. Although I'm doubtful that would be the case in reality.

Looks like we might be seeing the final days of Gareth Bale at real Madrid.

Jonathan Barnett has labelled the Real Madrid fans a disgrace.

Only one winner here :barefoot:

Speaking on Barnett, saw his agency signed Joachim Andersen as a client.
