The back page of the daily mirror looks interesting ...

... granted I've only seen a small shot on the BBC's gossip page

I assume this is the article? https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/tottenhams-danny-rose-club-asked-16157783

What in the fuck?!?!? Just becuase a man speaks whatever is on his mind doesnt means he’s crazy. Also, nothing he has ever told the media was a lie. He speaks the truth. The truth needs to be told. Whether its about racism or our transfer policy. So, in conclusion, whatever club that was can fucking do one.

I like that Rose is honest about what he's been through. Football players are human beings as well. He deserves respect for that.
However, if I was the head of a club who are going to pay 30-40M for a player who's been on anti-depressant drugs I would also have a mental health check done on him. In fact, clubs do mental check up on players, nothing unsual about that.
Besides, I doubt (but not denying it could happen) that a club that's in for a player would use such words as "We wanna check whether you are crazy or not..." Not exactly the way to build bonds is it...

If the club used the word crazy to him then they are in the wrong. But surely in this day and age, clubs signing players wouldn’t be holding a duty of care to the player if they didn’t check his physical and mental health before signing him.

I’m sure it will be sensationalised because of his phraseology.

As someone who suffers with anxiety and in the past depression I do find Danny rose open approach to his problems really refreshing it really does help me feel like I can talk about my issues a lot more rather than hiding them from people.

I do love his honesty but I sometimes wish he’d have a bit of a filter at times.

It saddens me that he’s been speaking to other clubs. We all know it happens and if the question put to him had been ‘have you spoken to any other clubs’ and he’d answered honestly then that would’ve been fine. Bit tough to take but fine. But he’s mentioned it whilst answering a mental health question, like the fact he’d been speaking to other clubs doesn’t really matter. And it may not matter to him. We all know the interview he gave where he made it clear he believes he’s worth more than Spurs pay him and that he’d happily move back north. But that’s ok, at least we sort of expect it.

Part of me quite likes the fact he doesn’t say the right thing just to please the fans, especially because other times he makes it clear how much he loves Spurs and Poch.

It’s a weird one. Can I personally really deny him one last big move after the years of service and 100% efforts? No. Do I worry sometimes that a sections of fans may not cheer him as much because they think he may up and leave at any point as he sees football very black and white? Yeah, probably. Do I hope he signs a new contract? Fuck yeah.

There’s a thing where someone is just a bit too honest. But with all that said, he’s been one of our players of the year in my opinion having got back to his best. He genuinely fucking loves a tackle, especially a 50/50 and you can’t say that about too many players nowadays. He gives his all in every game. He takes faaaaar too long with his throw ins and that can be really annoying but if that’s my biggest criticism of him then that shows all you need to know about him.

Fucking love him even though I constantly have that feeling that he’ll bugger off sooner rather than later. He may well be one of the players Poch was talking about re ‘a painful rebuild’... really hope not!

I don’t think he’s making a big thing about talking to other clubs, he’s just making people aware of the stigma around mental health imo. The fact that the club needed to check he wasn’t “Crazy” because of the stuff he has been through is very wrong. I’m not sure how else he would’ve gotten the point across

I agree, but that’s sort of my point too. The fact he wasn’t making a big deal of it almost suggests he doesn’t see it as a big thing, whereas normally if you found out one of your best players was talking to other clubs, it would be a big thing.

It’s the kind of thing I’d like to read about when his career is over. It’s a little unsettling when you hear stuff like that while it’s still raw and happening. But I can’t blame him really, he’s just being honest and it won’t be unexpected if it does happen.

It is what it is with him. He’s a great player and gives his all on the pitch, and he’s clearly struggled with big issues relating to his mental health, and in that context moving clubs probably doesn’t seem that big a deal to him. Which is fair enough.

He’s a northern lad and he probably would fancy going back up there at some point, but as things stand he’s given us a decade of largely great service. He might even be here for another few years yet.

Danny gets a pass from me on this one. The previous interview he gave was very ill advised, and I came down on him for that because it was just a silly power move (which backfired on him). This is just plain honesty.

I think a lot of our players have talked to other clubs, probably most transfer windows. Didn't Poch say something about that the other week?

Might well be that Danny is the only one who lets on that he is - As you say no filter. I kinda like that

I'd still keep him mind you - when he's fit and in match shape he is a great player.

Interview on talkSPORT right now-good so far! Especially the bit on Kane’s temper in changing room-
“When he goes he goes”
