Villa are selling Grealish I suspect. Man U probably as they failed to get sancho
Makes sense, but United seem to collecting Midfielders for fun.. Fernandes and Van der Beek to compliment Fred, Pogba, Greenwood, McTominey, Lingard, James and Matic.. Surely don't need Grealish

Not seen much of Brentford, wasn't that fussed about him, at that price sure we can do better.

But if he turns out to score 20 goals in Premier League for Villa, and we end up with worse, reserve the right to change my mind, and slag the management off at any appropriate time in the future

I mean, they're not wrong though, are they? We've had no backup striker for 12+ months and we're showing no signs that one is close, even with 9 games in 3 weeks coming up.

I'm not defending the price of Watkins, nor am I saying we should've got him, but it's pretty inexcusable that we don't have a backup striker in general.

What do you mean by this? What signs should Spurs be showing?

Or do you mean that we're not hearing any media or itk reports about us being close to signing a striker? In which case, why should that necessarily be a bad thing? We didn't hear any reports about us being close to signing Doherty until a few days before we did sign him. And, by all accounts, the deal was as good as done by the time that we did hear about it. Besides which, didn't JJ's recent itk say that we are close to agreeing a deal for a striker?

I swear the spurs fans on twitter drink bath water as their only meal or something. They're genuinely a different breed of moron.

Yeah they’re dementing. Mainly spotty 15 yr old virgins tbf though so it’s not worth engaging.

I’m not defending levy here, but I should imagine it’s a combination of him and previous and current managers.

I mean, we all say we want someone to compete with Harry, but we all know that Harry is going to play 75% of the games, regardless of what we want.

That makes it very hard to find a good calibre of player who will want to sit on the bench the majority of the time. So rightly or wrongly I can’t see Levy spending £30m + on a striker.

it can’t be easy if I’m honest. But I agree with pretty much everyone that we need a striker!

It’s not the end of the transfer window though so why the panic? We’re in a better position going into this season then we were prior to last season. The addition of Bergwijn means if we really need to rest Kane then Son can play through the middle. That should see us through the early season fixtures.

Yes we should have signed a back up striker by now but we all know Mourinho wants one. We know Levy is targeting one. We also know the fact we have our max number of foreign players limits us. But also I suspect there is a bit of trying to get the exact kind of striker Jose wants with one eye on having a quality addition who can step up when Kane eventually fucks off.

Look, I’m not happy we haven’t signed a striker yet but it’s really us pointless spitting the dummy out until the window closes.

We're certainly attracting a new type of fan in recent years to be honest, they were usually reserved for the likes of Arsenal and United, I frankly can't stand them.

Who do we think the two non-English strikers between 21-25 that Herc mentioned are then? If they are up around £25m, I think it’s not Diallo.

Daka is the one that was mentioned on here at length yesterday, he's also 21. Though I found it interesting though that @DiVaio put that name purely because he liked the look of the player. Then suddenly the twitter ITK's were mentioning him shortly after.

At £28 million I'm glad we didn't buy Watkins. Was impressed with him in the playoffs but for that type of money I'm just not sure he is worth the risk given he is unproven at top level and lets be honest he has only had one decent season in terms of scoring goals in the championship.

However it is getting slightly worrying on the striker front.. I really cant believe Daniel Levy will mess up again and fail to buy a back up striker of some description in this window. We are all re-living through the documentary the debacle of January to March where we played without a recognised striker and lets be honest if the season had carried on and finished normally we really would have struggled to finish in the top half of the table.
It would be on verge of negligence for Levy to fail to bring a striker in before the end of the window. Thats why we have to trust that he will sign one eventually before October 5th.
The fact that you have to even suggest “buy a back up striker of some description” rightly demonstrates how negligent it’s been that we’ve had one (great but injury prone) centre forward in the first team squad for so long. How can Levy possibly argue that It’s acceptable.

We don’t just need someone with a title of centre forward, but someone decent... otherwise why bother when funds available are so restricted.

Of course.

But you are basing your concerns on what happened in the past and seem to be deliberately ignoring all the evidence of this transfer window thus far - namely, that we have already strengthened in three key positions and that every itk worth paying attention to has repeatedly said that things are being done very differently now and that Levy and Mourinho have an excellent understanding of what is required from each of them.

It seems that you and others are determined to carry on fighting old battles. I’m not sure why.

I'd like to think I'm one of the more balanced posters on here. I have given credit to the club already this season for their swift work plugging the holes in CM and RB so well. I was also pleased with the club's ambition last summer. Regardless of how it worked out Ndombele felt like a glass ceiling moment. Bergwijn I also feel was a top signing.

Not signing a striker in January was terrible however, and we were being told the same things back then. We have options, there's still, we'll definitely sign one, etc...

Why have we not lined one up like we did with Hojbjerg and Doherty? It's been a squad weakness for that long. Its great to hear that Jose and Levy are working well but I'm not having it at all that Jose is happy going into this crazy period with no new striker.

Hopefully rebrab is right and something is moving behind the scenes currently. I'm sure if we knew who plan A-C were (say Daka, Edouard and Jimenez) we might be more willing to be patient.

Although if we are hanging around waiting for their prices to go down £10-15m I fear that will never happen and in the meantime plans D-F have gone to midtable clubs and suddenly we are floundering like the end of the January window, and the spectre of Troy Deeney looms larger and larger!

I was also one of the ones on the club's side during that window where we signed no one, I was sure we'd do something. I'm just out of blind faith at this point. End of the day we all just want the best for the club and people like myself are stuck on the outside peeking in hopeful for some good news.

Everyone comes off like a **** on Twitter though. Even Lineker who ten years ago seemed like an inoffensive all round nice guy is now so unbearable I’ve had to block him.

Could be Daka

Hope it’s him, or Ronyell Malen, both have stand out seasons and going to be great players.

Other players could be Myron Boadu, Alexander Sorloth, Luka Jovic, Patrik Schick, Moussa Dembele, Darwin Nunez

Nunez and Schick have already moved this window.
