Think we desperately need to try and get Bastoni signed asap before Inter sell anyone else and then don't have to sell him.

If we're serious about backing Conte I want to see us get him signed up in the next week or so.

If we have to sub Ndombele's wages, then it's not likely to be any transfer fee.
Just loaning him out to clubs willing to cover his full wages until his contract runs out might actually be the best we can do for our finances ..
It's a shame really, as if his head was into it and Conte give him a chance I think he could do a job for us considering the new 5 subs rule. Not very reliable, but certainly someone who can be used tactically.

I have seen numerous posts from people wanting Eriksen back.
I am probably in the minority but I just dont see where he fits in the system Conte seems settled on.
Yes we can romanticise on past exploits but he needs to fit.
Many see a free transfer as a no brainer, but a free transfer is'nt really free is it.
My understanding is Bosmans tend to get bigger than normal signing on fees and wages.

He played a major role for Conte's 5-3-2 so would give him more options with system and tactics when needed

Yes, I wouldn't think of where Eriksen fit into our current line up as a decider in us signing him or not. It's about building a squad with tactical adaptability. I see him first of all as competition for Kulusevski, even though they don't play exactly same role and position.

Eriksen could also play inside right or left as part of the front 3 with Kane.

He played that many times for us under Poch when we played 3-4-3.

Eriksen played a pivotal role in Conte title winning team- Conte likes to go usually to 5-3-2 to get more control in midfield. Last season we didn’t have that 3rd creative player so he went to 3-4-3 . So I can certainly see us reverting to 5-3-2 in games where he feels we need control

Eriksen's so intelligent that he can adapt, that was the reason why we could get both Dele Alli and Son into the same side.

As odd as it is that we're building a war-chest for players, its even odder that were being so public about it.
(An no, there are NO regulatory reasons that ENIC NEED to publicly disclose their increased stake as we're no longer a plc!).

As I see it everyone has an opinion who we should get which is fair enough, but lets look at it from a DL business perspective and see which players are out of contract soon, do we then offer new extensions or do we sell before an Eric saga. This alone will alter what positions are required. Thinking deeply, apart from Golli no player is out of contract next season, might be wrong, BUT HK, Winksy, Hugo, Lucas, ED, Ben Davies and others are out in 2 years time. ALARM BELLS ringing. If we take HL as an example with 2 years left, expensive wages, moderate re sell value now, cost of replacement, swap value and manager/directors opinion, it can be seen that there are considerable mitigating factors to be considered before any new player consideration if we are planning long term. Might be talking a load of dribble but so many just think it is just a simple matter to phone a friend and he will sort it.
Stay safe and happy days Bob

People need to understand that Kostic would be a very idiosyncratic kind of WB. He isn’t fast, he won’t take on his man, and he’s not an amazing defender. He’s almost like an old-fashioned European playmaker who plays at wingback. All about using that left foot to put balls into the box

He only has one year on his contract, which would make him a lot cheaper than other options, but he is 29 years old; it would be nice to spend the money on younger players who will retain their value.

Swings and roundabouts I guess.

I think this is the kind of thing that can mean 'backing Conte' even more than spending £200m.

It might be signing a more experienced player currently operating at a high level at LWB, such as Kostic or Perisic, despite them having no sell on value. That way they are ready to compete straight off the bat. After all our other LWB (Sess) is a big prospect as it is so it actually would seem like a perfect mix to me.

No idea why you've been given the disagree button but following Bundesliga its a very fair analysis. Kostic would be great when we have more of the ball against lesser teams, where can he almost lets say, cheat a bit, and play a lot higher up. Conte has never necessarily played with two flying, speedy wingers. One is usually a great athlete in say Moses, Hakimi and then a very technical winger in the mould of Alonso, Perisic. He then also likes someone who can almost play both sides like a Darmian, Young.

I've seen quite a focus on pace and energy down the wings but its not truly always how Conte teams work.

and there we go again, fans moaning about how a fucking free signing with the stature of Eriksen would fit in a 3-4-3. Its called options ffs.

Go watch the second half of Inter's title winning season when Conte was there.

Conte hasn't so much settled on a system with us but been given o choice but to use that system. Check out the Eriksen thread for more detailed on analysis on why bringing him back would be a great fit for us.
