if we can pay peri 150k a week we can up Laportes wages.
If you want a player to come for wages you aren’t really gonna get a baller. Laporte IMO is top 5 in the league all day lol very day, I simply don’t think he has any interest in us.

How would you know he doesn’t?

Ok… how do you know Messi doesn’t madly wanna join us? Common fucking sense.
Not quite the same is it. Laporte is a squad player looking for a move and we have already been told that we have been working on a deal for months. Not saying he will come but I’d guess more likely than messi but loved your eloquence whilst responding!

Laporte is a quality defender, far above anything we have. I know we have a manager now but let’s not get cocky. Your really telling me Laporte has Levy on speed dial?

Maybe he wants a proper challenge as in trying to keep the ball out of the net against all the odds. Maybe he's had enough of bagging countless trophies without getting out of 2nd gear. Who knows? Anyway, I'd be stoked if we could sign him.

Tbf as unrealistic as this deal might be WLB did say he didn't have many options. And tbf I don't see many teams on the continent being able or willing to pay a transfer + big wages for a 28 year old. So that leaves only our prem rivals and they are all pretty much sorted for left sided centre backs or are focusing on strengthening other areas.

I have my doubts we'll get the deal done but when you look at it logically we have more of a chance than you might think.

Yeah, I did some research on this a couple years ago and the big teams almost exclusively buy like 24 years or younger CBs.

I feel like Atletico would make a ton of sense for Laporte.

I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to stay and fight for a place if the only interest is from us and Villa.
Us crashing out of Europe likely impacted our chances, if there even were any.

He’s not streets above Romero and if the time has come that the ninth richest club in the world can’t pick up a reserve with splinters in his ass from sitting on the bench all season elsewhere then time to pack up and give up

He’s really dumbed expectations down hasn’t he, ffs

I doubt us not being in Europe is a decisive factor. We've been in Europe for several consecutive seasons and are still a massive club, with a great workplace (stadium and training complex) and pay competitive wages.

Sureky we are above villa in the pecking order? They have awful Europe I doubt he’d want to play in Baku on a Thursday night and I would imagine london is more attractive than Birmingham
If like most Manchester footballers he lives in Cheshire which is south of Manchester Villa might only be an hour down the M6.

Maybe he's tired of watching his teammates compete for a treble from the bench. ;)

Absolutely, I don't disagree.
However, most elite players want to play European football and there are no guarantees we'll be in the CL, or even EL next year. Laporte would be a dream signing for LCB, but I just can't see it with our lack of titles (or even title hopes) and European football.
