Feels like we are quite stacked in the midfield right now. I rate him, but with Maddison, Skipp, GLC, Bentancur and Sarr all on the books I can't see where he fits unless something is happening with GLC.

Hope this is true Hatate is quality. His range of passing is excellent, scores goals and doesn't mind working hard to win the ball back . Always trying to play forward and getting his teams on the front foot.

💯 unless GLC is going then no way we sign him but he’s a proper little player though would love him at Spurs.

Sounds like a really similar profile to Gallagher.

He came on for Celtic today but was then subbed off with an injury. Not comparing one to the other but he reminds me a bit of Luka Modric. Very comfortable on the ball and passes it with ease.

He's extended his contract with Celtic by 5 years. Gives them a bit of protection should anyone come asking next summer.

Just means someone has to pay if they want him.

If ange wants him then back him Daniel!

My guess is we're going to hear this phrase a lot.

I actually really like the way we're doing our transfer business at the moment.

In the last 3 seasons we've bought Johnson, Maddison, Porro, VDV, Kulusevski, Vicario, Solomon, Richarlison, Romero, Bissouma, Udogie, Perisic, Bentancur and Sarr.

Out of those I'd say we only went bigger than we'd have liked on Richarlison and Johnson.

The players we got are good quality and were obtained due to the players being obtainable due to a mix of having short contracts, unwanted, playing for smaller clubs, the selling club needed money etc.

I hope we continue to be proactive in the market and don't just start throwing silly money around.

Ange has said he doesn't play a huge part in the early stages of scouting a player.

A bit of a throwaway line i used, but for a bit more context i guess im not expecting a japanese international who has a proven record in the scottish league to cost as much as a brazilian international who has premier league experience, very similar to ange in that regard.

Equally agree that whatever approach to transfers we've used the last couple years we should be sticking to.

If Hatate hadn't just signed a long contract he might have been a really good and achievable target for us.

25 years old and likely coming into his prime, has the attributes we want and knows the manager.

Without the long contract we could have likely tempted Celtic with a reasonable fee. Now it's a signing we need to pay out the extra for.

If we're going to do that I'd rather we looked to someone like Neto.

I suspect he knows following Postecoglu isn't an option so he's securing his future.

Celtic’s record fee for an outgoing was Jota to Al-Ittihad at €29.1m (about £25.3m). That was a ‘Saudi Special’ price, mind you. Probably more relevant was the reported £25m they got for Tierney. Do you reckon that would have to be beaten for Hatate to leave? I’m not sure. I don’t think they need to sell anyone at present, but also suspect one of Hatate or Kyogo will move on in January or summer next year.

For Neto, I can imagine the asking price being very sizeable.

Quite different types of player too, so I suppose their relative value as signings will be determined by which area of the team is prioritised for strengthening as well as the potential size of the fees.
