Spurs are building the new stadium to enable us to grow financially and be able to compete with some of the top teams. Will we ever pay crazy money like Man City? No. However players like Ozil and Sanchez who cost Ars £50-60m should be attainable. These are the types of players who have won most trophies and add experience to a team.

Would you guys be happy to only buy young players with potential once the new stadium is completed knowing we have a greater financial backing or would you want the club to invest in proven players?

Definitely want us to invest in proven players. I don't think anyone will say no to that.

I guess the worry from most of the fans is that, by the time we start signing these proven players, we will have lost all of our momentum on the pitch and the key players in our squad will have moved on.

So you think we're going to start buying that sort of calibre this summer? That would be really great news.

Would prefer us to sign young potential and promote from within.
(KWP, Onomah, plus others)
We have plenty of experience: Verts Toby, Lloris, Dembele, Sissoko(?)
already to mix in.
Superstars at inflated prices and wages are not part of the current 'project'
and I am happy with that.
Use any additional income from the Stadium to raise the level of wages
and keep what we've got happy.
Come on Tottenham Academicals.

Mane before Saints and Richarlison were definitely gettable, we need to get them before they go to the likes of Dortmund or Saints.
But theres a perfect example. Mane! We could have had him but Liverpool offered a lot more and off he went. So once the stadium is built would Spurs fans still be happy with Liverpool acquiring these players whilst we look for young talent who are slighty more affordable.

It's because of this that I see some sense in us tracking Bale. He wouldn't be my choice, but if his wage demands are realistic, the sponsors in the new stadium would go nuts for it. If Madrid want shot of him I can see him wanting to be the main attraction in the new stadium whereas younger players would most likely be looking for more.

He was attainable before he went to saints i mean.
We can't afford them once they get to a club like saints or dortmund but surely we can afford them before they get there. Or is it the case that we've not identified them until they get to a mid level club like saints? In which case our scouting is flawed.

If the Nike rumours are true, I could see them funding that one tbh.

There's noting wrong with that but if we're honest with ourselves we'd have to lower our expectations of success. There's nothing better than bringing players through our academy or signing young players. However the top teams will carry on buying the top players who are proven and will carry on winning trophies. Their comes a time the club will have to match what Ars and Liverpool pay and add players of top quality. That's one of the main factors of building the new stadium to help us fund this in the future,

This is the point though isn't it? Mane before Liverpool wasn't the same player as Mane before Southampton, he would have been seen as a risk signing otherwise known as Noudou or Njie, some work out some don't and Mane is one that worked out I guess.

Reading this just tells you how good Arsenal's buying's been. They have 1 flop in Perez pissing away 13m, whereas we had 3 and arguably 3 in Sissoko/Janssen/Njie and maybe Llorent, costing 50m+
Man Citys pretty good...but Man Utd by far the worse.

Issue is how long are player like Kane, Dele etc willing to wait, if it takes us 5 years to be in a position to compete they may take the view their career is too short and go.

Even with this new stadium, teams like City and Chelsea will still blow us out the water. The money side of things is such a shame as the Poch project is so good.

We’ve definitely ballsed up the last 2 windows. If sissoko Nkoudou Janssen has been top quality our squad would be more or less complete. Those are the 3 areas we still need to fill.

Still think we need a quality passer in midfield.

It comes down to the calibre of the young talent. There’s a massive difference between spotting someone with bundles of raw ability like Bale, Werner?, Sessegnon, Mbappe (never happening but you get my drift) and the apparent young talent we’ve ended up with in GKN, Janssen, N’Jie etc. Other than enthusiasm the aforementioned players don’t have a sparkle about them or the potential to turn their talent into someone whom will thrive in the premier league. In a nutshell, signing youngsters can be a good thing but only if they’ve a sparkle about them.

This is exactly what I meant too. I'm happy to sign young players, but for a club like us in our position, they need to be the very best young players and I do believe we can attract them. It's just getting on the case before they become so good that the huge clubs can't ignore them

Depends on the calibre of young player I suppose.

An N'jie or N'koudou who are going to need loads of time, then no, definitely not.
A Sanchez or Alli who have the potential to be huge players within a year, then yes, I'd be over the moon with that.
Having said that, we probably need a 'winner' to help us win a title as the younger players will generally need time and experience first and the rest of the squad may not wait around for that.

Xhaka and Mustafi have hardly set the world on fire. They were ridiculed a lot back end of last season and have been criticised a lot this season too.
