And he played a part in both.

For the first he intercepted and then quickly passed to spring Bale.

For the second he played that great ball for Lennon.

I mean, if we're going to nitpick.

he had as much to do with the 2nd goal as Sandro did.

His pass for the 3rd goal was amazing.

I would give mom kaboul but how people are marking ade so high is hard to fathom because apart a tap in and one well taken goal he was dreadfull
He can be dreadful every week if he keeps popping up with a couple of goals.....
Tho he was poor overall today.....

I don't really give a shit if Modric left his man for the goal, he was the clear MOM....never mind his goal, the ball for Lennon and who crossed for Adebayor which was the killer goal - that was fucking sublime.

Haven't seen full match yet but Sandro and Modric looked good, still feel we need Parker in with those two as it can leave us fairly open with Modric as the other CM.

Modric back to his best tonight though, great to see, right as we need him to step up he does, fantastic goal and what an amazing pass in the second half to Lennon.

I would give all the players a 7. Except Modders... he gets an 8.
VdV played well. But I thought he was a little subdued in the first half.

Chocolate Teapot Flavoured Humble Pie for 1 please waiter.

I know some are going to want me to be eating some. The chocolate teapot trio all made major contributions to the victory after all.

I can't say I enjoyed every aspect of tonights game though in all honesty, there was some good stuff and the first half we played some decent stuff and were pretty well disciplined off the ball as well. But, for me, there was still too much openness, even in the first half Bolton had two fantastic chances and second half until we scored those two quick break goals, Bolton were on top and were had turned to pish, sloppy passing, no pressing and a very shit side were making us look like girls school.

But then Modric, VDV, Lennon, Bale and Adebayor all produced as many moments of quality as they had in virtually the last two months in 10 minutes and the game was done and even though thereafter there was still some sloppy shit, Bolton had died and were in no mood to capitalise.

Bolton chose to not follow Sunderland and QPR's example and tried to make a game of it, which ultimately proved their undoing I guess, as they went from equalising and dominating to 3-1 down in a minute. 4-1 in 9.

I actually thought there were some real poor performances in there tonight, especially in the second half, even VDV I thought was under parr. Adebayor, who was sloppy and careless all night long has played much better and not scored, Modric was ok first half but was defensively shocking at times, including the goal, as Bolton often managed to easily get between our midfield and defensive lines. But a magnificent goal and beautiful through ball to Lennon earned him some respite from the shit he would have been getting for some of the slack defensive stuff he did. Bale set up two with good composure when it mattered but was again less than "sturdy" at times and flinched out of a couple of challenges.

Once we scored the 4th Bolton died and the game became a perfunctory stroll, those quick goals preventing what was threatening for 15 minutes to become a Norwich or Chelsea at Wembley second halves.

I still do not like us playing the way we did tonight and much prefer the way we played away at Norwich or Chelsea. The difference for me was that Bolton came at us, making spaces we could exploit and for the first time in a long time we did, making our superior talent count, tonight the gamble paid out, but for the best part of three months it hasn't, so I remain really baffled by his logic, but will be force fed my humble pie no doubt.

Ratings:

Friedel 7 - One good point blank save but I remain very unimpressed by a lot of what he does. Shouldn't have punched what he could of caught and why he didn't come for a couple of crosses I'm not sure.

Walker 6 - Contributed very little in an attacking sense and their most dangerous moment first half came when he got himself all wrong with Petrov. Same thing happened in the second half once and again it lead to chance, luckily Bolton wasted both. The rest of the time he was pretty good against a tricky player - too often left 1v1.

Gallas 7 - A hard night up against the EPL's toughest war horse, battled away and did OK for the most part.

Kaboul 7 - Did OK.

Rose 7 - Did OK, no real drama, but to be fair Walker had the tougher opponent.

Lennon 6.5 - Didn't see enough of the ball in an open game, wasted a couple of great situations early on, but did execute the square ball well enough having been put through with a superb pass by Modric. It was the only piece of really creative quality he did all night. 22/27passes/0 tackles

Sandro 7 - Decent enough and was run ragged at times because of the three slack fuckers he had round him (5 if you include VDV and Adebayor)35/46/5

Modric 7.5 - A score lifted by a wonder striker and a beautiful through ball. Even the commentator said at one point "I should think Coyle will be happy Modric is spending so much time on his own D. 71/84/0

Bale 7 - Saw a bit more ball than Lennon and played two intelligent balls. But did some of his usual irritating shit. Minced out of challenges and didn't always press, close, track and tackle when he should.36/42/0

VDV 7 - very composed with the finish, I thought he was a bit disappointing generally. He got about, saw ball, but didn't work hard enough to press sometimes and wasted a couple of situations with sloppy passes. 46/53/0

Adebayor 7 - This was a 5 performance boosted by two marks for two goals to be honest. Sloppy at times and didn't always work hard enough t close from the front.27/37/1

Only six tackles were made by players ahead of the the defence. 5 of them by Sandro.

Any of Modric,VDV or Sandro for me, probably just give it to VDV for scoring the important 2nd goal.

BC - Bolton were still not playing three in the middle, they were 4-4-2....I had no problems with our set up tonight given the way they approached the game, and they got punished badly. They had their 10-15 min spell at the start of the second and then they got hit, they were too open at the end of the day. Coyle went for it and got his fingers burned royally.

Over the course of the 90 mins we were by far the superior side. I agreed with Harry's assessment as well, we should of been a couple up at half time, it was a good first half. Ultimately we got exactly what we deserved tonight, that performance merited a comprehensive score line.

BC you seriously thought rose played better than both Walker and Lennon? Walker and Lennon our worst two players? I must strongly disagree there, I thought Lennon had a great game and looked very dangerous and Walker did well too against as you rightly pointed oout a very tricky winger in Petrov.
Rose on the other hand was just plain out of his depth, looked scared of the ball and a few timeas turned his back on aerial challenges. Incredibly weak performance and if I picked the next spurs side hed be dropped on thelast two performances. With Bale at LW I think a solid defensive LB is needed so King cb with gallas LB for me please.

i think redknapp told sandro to sit in front of the back four cos he came out 2nd half looking worried and did not play his normal game and this definitely helped bolton. big mistake by redknapp and he has to find another solution and allow sandro to impose himself on the game unless there are no alternatives, fuck, even asking modric to screen the back four is better than cutting sandro in half.

sandro is a f top player, and his pressure relieving runs out of defence are becoming quite handy too. cheers mate.(y)
