My favourite was Enzo Francescoli
I was given a World Cup '86 video for Christmas when I was just getting into football by my folks. I had been 4 in '86 but my parents had followed it and enjoyed it, especially Maradona.

I remember Fransecoli from the video - the Prince. He was majestic but got the living shit kicked out of him by the Danes who hammered Uruaguay 5-1 or something.

He played in France for Racing Club Paris or something but the club folded.

Dutch, Chileans and Spanish all better football sides right now than Italy

Uruguay I rate higher than Italy but still behind the 3 teams in Group B.

As for England the game against Italy will be a bore 0-0 in the heat of the Jungle - guaranteed. Uruguay will beat them they will beat Costa Rica, I don't know if that will be to qualify last 16 though

Fair enough. Spain are the strongest European side but Italy, despite losing on pens, outplayed them in the recent Confed Cup. I think the Dutch are legends and Chile aren't as strong as Italy, albeit play good football. I don't think Uruguay are better, they did poorly in their qualifications, but they are still dangerous and will be better suited to the conditions.

I can see the Italy v England game being a repeat of the Euros too, however, Italy's attack has improved since then so as Rossi is back to his best, so who knows.

I have to say, I was really looking forward to an England, United States, Iran, Germany group. The tensions and history of these countries. Would have been very intriguing. So I am pretty dissapointed with this not being the group as well as being in the group of death, along with Germany, Ronaldo and our achilles heel.

Perhaps my dream WC group is Germany, Iran, Israel, United States. Things would get very interesting, to say the least.

Would also love an England, France, Mexico, and United States group. Would be fun.

Also would love an England, France, Germany, Italy group. Or England, United States, Germany, Japan group.

Ok pretty much just groups pairing countries in past conflicts or with currently very shaky relations.

Well what an absolute joke the system is. When Argentina get 3 of the very weakest teams available and Australia get 2 of the toughest then there is something seriously fucked up with the system. Someone want to explain how this can happen? I’m not even gonna bother watching this now incredibly fucked up competition. I’m totally disollusioned with it.

Going to be hotter for the players though.

Ah sod'em, it's hard to feel sympathy for highly paid footballers who had to be shamed into donating the additional wages they received for representing their country to a good cause. Besides, it'll be good prep for Qatar.

Also, if it hinders England and contributes to them making an early exit then all the better for the tournament.

It was ITV, the Channel that single handedly has tried to kill football recently that complained to FIFA over the 2am KO for the England vs Italy game.

Against Hodgson's wishes also
