Just seen on MOTD Schlupp has now gone faster than Vardy. Does anyone have an info like this on previous seasons for these players? Wes Morgan is 32 for christs sake and running faster than Kyle Walker. I'm just wondering if anyone know any more on this. I didn't realise Leicester were specifically going out recruiting fast players. Has Wes Morgan really always been that fast???

Are there any stats for how fast Morgan was during his Forest days?

He's older now but seems to have speeded up dramatically

@E.L.Strict Have you seen this shit?!

Hahaha yes. It's old unfortunately, and I can't find anything more recent. I'd be interested to hear what was said on MOTD.

I think as stats they are hard to interpret. Looking back at equivalent articles from the last couple of seasons there doesn't really seem to be a trend, in the sense that the players with the fastest sprint speeds aren't regularly in the list. For example our record holder from last season is apparently Eric Dier. No Leicester players from the above link were also clocked at high speeds last season, in fact none of their squad beat 34km/h, but also none of the other names from the above link appear either. All in all I feel that there are too few occasions in a match when a player needs to run at full speed for these stats to tell a compelling story.

For me it has never really been about Leicester's speed, or even fitness, but about how nippy they are over 10 yards. All of their players, all over the pitch seem to be able to get there first with ease. It's like low match fitness but in reverse. That, and their injury recovery (and obviously their league position) are the blatant red flags for me.

Like how Lance Armstrong suddenly started flying up the mountains in a completely different riding style, due to his amazing training regime...

They just said something along the lines of, Schlupp has now gone faster than Vardy making him the fastest PL player and then showed the Km/h, but I can't remember what that figure was.

I do watch a fair bit of cycling and that's made me more suspicious of this kind of thing. But watching it happen in other sports like cycling for EPO and UFC for steroids/testosterone you learn some of the warning signs. And if you look they're there for Leicester, I don't even think there's an argument to be had whether the signs are there. The question is whether they are actually doping and whether it's provable. I don't think it's provable due to the inadequacies in the current testing setup and therefor we'll probably never know whether they doped there way to a PL title... And that's probably going to be that unfortunately for us.

I know it seems far fetched to assume they're doping, but stuff like this really does seem suspicious. Fair play to them if it's not, but i'd like to think that this would be looked into.

Speed stats for football seem to regularly throw up some absolutely mental results. Phil Jagielka was statistically the fastest player in the league at one point according to Sky Sports, and Thierry Henry's closest competition on speed metrics at Arsenal was Matt Upson.

EDIT: Here's the Jagielka stat. With the exception of Dyer there isn't a single player on that list you'd expect to see there.

This doesn't look suspicious whatsoever...

Yeh, these stats always result with strange players coming out on top. Its measuring top speed during the course of a game, but actually tells you very little. Apart from maybe how determined a player is, or how often they chase something down.

Surprised by all the suggestions of doping. Of course its possible, but if we were just looking at performance as a sign of doping then frankly we should be the first team one should look into.

Anyway, yeah there was a link earlier this season. But if say it was Man utd where these links surfaced and with sch and such statistics no one would bat an eyelid. Lets not jump the gun and enjoy the season for what it is, a beautiful unpredictable thing.
