There's probably no point in saying what the signs are to you because you seem to have a very closed mind on the matter anyway. If you can show you have an open mind then maybe I might bother but I'm not going to waste my time as it stands. What signs?
If you're only going to follow Pochettino's opinion then maybe a forum is the wrong place for you.
Not meaning to sound pedantic but you've spelt Pochettino wrong fella....There's probably no point in saying what the signs are to you because you seem to have a very closed mind on the matter anyway. I've got an extensive background in football so I will always respect the managers decisions and points of view at the end of the day, even if I disagree, because the chances are they'd know better than me. What I'm saying is I'd take his opinion over yours because you're clearly one of those that's already made their mind up and see what they want to see because of a pre-conceived opinion, when in reality Rose has done well in pre-season and deserves a chance, which the manager has duly given him with a 5 year contract extension. Also, he happens to be the manager of one of the biggest clubs in English football and has shown his ability in recognising talent and making the most of it in the past. If you think I'm in the wrong place because I support the managers opinions then maybe it's you who is in the wrong place? Perhaps you should be managing Tottenham because you clearly know better than Pochetinno, according to you anyway...
Don't worry, you didn't sound pedantic at all... Here's me ranting about how I support the managers opinions, yet I can't even spell the man's name correctly lolNot meaning to sound pedantic but you've spelt Pochettino wrong fella....
Are you kidding me bud? I have you not seen danny rose play? Hes bottom half PL player. Hes liability and cost us alot of goals last season. I dont care no on can convince me that he isnt shit of a player. I dont blame the players that came in from last summer because there getting used to PL. I will judge those players off this season. Danny rose is garbage i wish we sold him to sunderland when we had the chance. How many players do we have in the squad that are above average?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however I do find it pretty insulting to the manager that people are effectively questioning his judgement on giving a player a FIVE year contract extension. A one or two year extension then fair enough because that would mean there is a certain amount of doubt in the managers mind but when it comes to handing out 5 year deals it's a different matter. I'd imagine every single member of the coaching staff let alone Pochettino would have to be in absolute agreement for that sort of commitment to be made to a player. 'Armchair fans' is a little bit harsh but I definitely think some people need to wise up when it comes to questioning what is likely to be the entire coaching staff's decision to give a player a 5 year deal with a pay rise includedTotally agree.
It's funny how people are so quick to get behind the managers decisions if it supports their opinion yet the moment they disagree with something the manager does they cannot bring themselves to admit that they are questioning the manager. We've got so many experts on SC it actually makes you wonder why most of these people are sitting behind their computer screen scratching their balls and aren't out studying for their coaching badges as we speak, armchair fans

In my opinion, leaving someone on a 5 year contract certainly doesn't reflect that the club are preparing to sell. That's a crazy idea, in my mind because the player can just sit on his arse with his cushty wage packet for the next 5 years if he chooses he doesn't fancy moving elsewhere. A football club, any football club, wouldn't do that in my opinion. I don't see either being sold next season, I think they will compete for another couple of years until we can say with certainty that Rose/Davies aren't good enough, or one of them decides they want to move on.Well, two things, I don't know how much time Rose had on his existing contract, but I am pretty sure he did not get a 5-year extension to that deal. I think he has a new 5-year contract.
One of the benefits to having a 5-year contract is that player will retain value longer - so that next summer we will probably sell one of Rose or Davies (leaning towards Rose, but open to the idea Davies could be sold). Giving Rose the new deal means we will likely get as much or more next summer as we could right now - depending on how he performs under Pochettino.
I do not think Spurs intend to have Rose and Davies under contract for 5 years each competing for time at LB. So the signing of the new deal, is not necessarily reflective of a commitment to Rose.
This is a danny rose thread. Of course there is other players that have been playing below average but im talking about danny shitty rose here. That goal he gave up in the arsenal game still haunts me i was so mad after that i wanted him gone from the team hes legit shitYour response doesn't have anything to do with the question I asked.
I didn't say anything about Rose in that post, in fact I already said in my first post in this thread that I don't rate him.

The way I can see it going is that Rose retains the No.1 spot for as long as he performs well enough to keep it on merit. If Rose gets back to his best (which I believe he is showing signs of doing) then I can see him retaining it for at least another season or two while Davies continues to develop. Davies is almost 3 years younger so he has time on his side so I think Rose will be given as much of a chance as possible to get to his best form because it's not like there's a shortage of game time for both even if one does dominate the No.1 position in the PL.
I don't expect them to be competing for the entirety of their 5 year deals either btw, I do think it is extremely likely to be a commitment to the player from the club though
Hey the irony wasn't lost on me...thought I'd try to lighten the mood!!!!Don't worry, you didn't sound pedantic at all... Here's me ranting about how I support the managers opinions, yet I can't even spell the man's name correctly lol
ITK? C'mon, you can't bring that rubbish into a debate. Sorry, but it's worth very little in this debate. How often do these ITK's hit the nail on the head? Very very rarely. For what its worth, there was ITK suggesting Davies is Pochettino's preferred LB.
I think its good to have both, and they both will get games this season. I don't think either one will want to stay past next summer if they are not the preferred LB. They have both been starting LBs in the league, and I doubt either one wants to spend development time on the bench.
