Absolutely - yes, all academies accept that not all output will end up as regular 1st team players at Spurs, but are still very good footballers and should go on to have good careers elsewhere, whether in lower divisions to start with or smaller EPL teams. This I think has been the Spurs objective for many years, with the training facilities and the really good youth coaching set up we have.

Perhaps not quite on par with Man Utd or Southampton's who seem to at present churn out brilliant young talent regularly, but certainly up there.

Yes and I don't know the exact running costs but I would imagine that we may already be close to making the money back in the sales of Caulker and Livermore.

Also, we have better players than both Southampton and Man Utd.

I can't recall a season where the so called "more senior" players have let us down so badly, only to be shown up and bailed out by a selection of home grown youngsters. Of course Lloris is the clear exception to this.

The reason for this has everything to do with attitude and focus, and less so natural talent. Kane Has developed through shear hard work and listening to the coaching staff. Management in any field will obviously want to focus on those with genuine talent but even more so those with an unrelenting drive and focus to improve and achieve. That's what gave Kane and Bentaleb their opportunity and success over the past season and a half. The talent has then come to the fore.

Rose was hardly popular the season before last; it's been an improved attitude which has seen him flourish as the season progressed.

The fall of Kaboul, Adi, Capoue, and Paulinho is everything to do with poor attitude. I can only imagine how dreadful their behaviour has been off the pitch which has led them to be dropped altogether from most match day squads.

That's why I like the sentiment of this thread. Next season I hope we'll see further talent from the academy promoted to the 1st team. Pritchard will be given serious opportunities. I've been told by one of the most senior guys at Brentford that Pritchard has been sensational, with a great attitude. A real team player. Even though he was on loan he was extremely popular and impressed at team and board level. He epitomises the kind of player that can succeed. And the Spurs coaches want to see this happen. By the end of next season there could be 2 or 3 others that will make the breakthrough.

Given that it's clear we won't be investing money at the levels of the top 4 teams, we may have something that will set us apart from the best of the rest and still be successful and possibly nail a trophy.
