They already have Simon Francis thought who's always been a pretty decent right back, hmmmm...

As gutted as when we sold Caulker.

What a strange world football is sometimes. Quality FB's are pretty rare. Anyone who saw him play for our development teams would have had him as nailed on for a decent career I would have thought.

In the England U18 tournament a few years back I remember saying how only him and Daniel Sturrdige tried to play any football in an otherwise shockingly poor England U18 team.

And again, one of the games he played for England U21's he was given man of the match. Reasonably rare for a FB.

Looked very good going forward, less convincing defensively but was young. I am amazed that we see more merit in keeping Naughton than promoting Smith and getting a couple of mil for Naughton.

He'll be 23 next month, and struggled at the top end of the Championship, will never be good enough for us. Club did the right thing.

Agreed, but that is still 2 years younger than Naughton, who would have fetched a couple of million, and we wouldn't have weakened the squad.

I seem to remember Neil warnock saying walker used to have him pulling his hair out when he was on loan there. I just can't reconcile that he's ended up at Bournemouth when there is such a shortage of decent full backs around.

Sat on the bench at Bournemouth. And I haven't heard any rumours of attitude problems, although that doesn't mean there aren't any. It is wierd, given how good he was a couple of years ago.

He's not as good as Naughton though clearly. So yeah, we would have weakened the squad. Naughton is proven Premier League level. Depending on Fredericks development we might have to dip in for a RB in the Summer if we let Naughton go.

Totally disagree mate, I don't think Naughton has ever done anything positive to be regarded as premier league proven. An abysmal footballer.

Not at all. He had a very good loan spell with Norwich in which he played over 30 games (in the Prem). I feel his reputation has been tarnished for many by his performaces at LB, but trust me we wont find it easy to find a RB as good as Naughton to sit on the bench for us next season. To say Smith (who cant cut it at Bournemouth) was the answer is just wrong, we're supposed to be a Club challenging for top 4..

I cant see us going for a RB to be honest we have a couple good prospects in the youth team and Fredericks

We have one, his name is Brad Friedel. Naughton is absolutely diabolical. He's a liability in defence and offers absolutely nothing in the oppositions half. Smith couldn't have been any worse, is more my point.

Simon Francis still holding his spot then as I said above?

Still sad we let him go.

Although Walker has really stepped up so not quite as sad as I would have been lol.
