Adebayor, Adebayoooooor,
I used to give you the benefit of the doubt,
but not any more.

It needs work, I'm clearly not Tim Rice.

Adebayor, Adebayoooooor,
We gave you a chance -
but not any more.

Any better?

who would be stupid enough to buy him ?

maybe some Russian side I guess

His wages are certainly an issue.

There are clubs in Russia starting to spend big money so maybe someone will take a chance on him.

I don't think any Prem club would match his wages now.

"How likely is it that you will play without the presence of Emmanuel Adebayor" Journo
"I'm not entirely sure it is best you ask that question to the federation" Six
Im struggling to grasp what this proves, it basically highlights what we knew 3 months ago that the Togo Federation has a disagreement with the players and Adebayor is the only one who doesnt need to play for his international team as he doesnt need a move

As for Adebayor being missing, even though this is the worst season he has ever had, he still hasnt been as bad Defoe in the last 2 matches and unfortunately a out of form ade is still our best striker

When I read this thread title I assumed it was gonna be a match report for any of his performances this season

he's an easy target - I stupidly expected more from Spurs followers who look very quick to rush to judgement in Ade's case.

Can anyone translate?

The first paragraph is basically saying there's bad feeling between players, coaching staff and the Togo FA. That the training session on Friday was so bad, ie players not putting in a shift, that Didier Six basically stopped it and said the the players do what you want and walked off in a huff.

So there's nothing specifically saying Ade is a bad influence, has gone missing or anything?

I don't know who Adebayor's PR advisors are but he is coming across as people thought, even if he did nothing wrong people seem fed up with him.

Didn't it turn out that when he came back late from the ACN that he was late cos the Togolese FA wouldn't pay the air fare for the rest of the team and how despite the fact that he could have easily swanned off in a private jet he felt as captain he had to stay and sort it out?

yep, a whole big thread for a quarter baked story about him not wanting to play for an association he had retired from. Full of spurs fans circling with pitch folkis and torches

Burn him etc etc etc

To give Spurs fans their dues, an association who he sporadically retires from and then changes his mind, every two seconds, no? He retired, then decided he was going to play, then retired, then said he was going to play, now doesn't sound like he wants to again. Which sounds spookily similar to his club career, no?

I'm withdrawing judgment on this till this is clarified, as I jumped the gun last time. Tho the eventual details didn't alter the initial feeling all that much, I still felt I was too quick to condemn. Not making that mistake again.

But I do find the people who forever rush to his defence slightly curious, as if he'd never, ever done anything to earn this reputation he's got and that anyone who might possibly think something's up is off their head. They irritate me as much as Adebayor does. You sound like a yoof's mum screaming in court as their flesh and blood is sent down. "Not my Addy! He's a good boy, would never hurt a fly! No I don't know where all the stolen iPhones came from…"

Ask yourself why he is an easy target?

? He used to play for the Goons ?
? He has never been particularly prolific and has a style that lends itself to interpretations that he is lazy ?
? The problems between him and the Togolese authorities are being interpreted as just him being a problem ?
? A combination of factors ?

As FlightRisker says, he had responsibilities as a captain, to not abandon the rest of the team, and none of us know exactly what went on - I was as peeved as anyone that he was missing when we needed him, but that is the truth of it.

And look at this latest story - the coach is so ineffectual that he can't control a training session and walks off in a huff. Weren't there stories that he was a political appointment, and hugely unpopular.

I think everyone should just hang fire on this one. I should add that I felt a bit sorry for Ade against Fulham. he really did try to chase everything down. I remember one moment, in the 1st half, were he chased the ball down against one centre-half, then the other, then the goalie, causing the 'keeper to rush his clearance and give possession back to us - moments later, out on the right, Ade made a little flick, but Sigurdsson* hadn't anticipated it, and immediately there were murmurs of discontent against him from the crowd. A tad harsh IMHO.
* Not necessarily to get at Sig, who suffered more than enough unreasoned slating, was, really, out of position, and they have hardly played with one another.

Would now be a good time for me to look at my pointy Transylvanian peasant hat, pitchfork and flaming torches? :joyful:
