But I do find the people who forever rush to his defence slightly curious, as if he'd never, ever done anything to earn this reputation he's got and that anyone who might possibly think something's up is off their head. They irritate me as much as Adebayor does. You sound like a yoof's mum screaming in court as their flesh and blood is sent down. "Not my Addy! He's a good boy, would never hurt a fly! No I don't know where all the stolen iPhones came from…"

Or SteveH, as he's more commonly known.

I think you're spot on in all regards actually, GP. People shouldn't be jumping the gun and calling to burn Ade at the stake for this particular story until the truth is known - absolutely correct. But people wouldn't be so keen to jump to negative conclusions in the first place if Adebayor hadn't been stinking the place out on the pitch this season (just like Defoe has too) - it's the fact that we've had to put up with mind-numbingly shit performances on the field from Ade and his partner-in-shame Defoe this year that causes the underlying frustration which sets the sharks snapping at the faintest hint of blood. If Adebayor and Defoe hadn't been so terrible, this is a non-story before it starts - it may well end up being a non-story later on too, but our strikers are painting themselves into corners that give people the excuse to jump on them by virtue of their ineptitude in 2012/13.

To give Spurs fans their dues, an association who he sporadically retires from and then changes his mind, every two seconds, no? He retired, then decided he was going to play, then retired, then said he was going to play, now doesn't sound like he wants to again. Which sounds spookily similar to his club career, no?

I'm withdrawing judgment on this till this is clarified, as I jumped the gun last time. Tho the eventual details didn't alter the initial feeling all that much, I still felt I was too quick to condemn. Not making that mistake again.

It always amazes me how ( supposedly ) intelligent people always believe what they read, not matter how sketchy the story is.

As long as he's back with us on time I couldn't give a toss. In fact better he doesn't play for Togo.

What I mean is, originally (my first post earlier) I read the first paragraph. Then later I scanned it (next post - you quoted) and didn't read through but didn't notice Adebayor's name.

Apologies, Adebayor is mentioned.Q3 and 4.

First question says how difficult is it when his players arrive in dribs and drabs and asks what mindset does that create. Six answers it's difficult but they make the most of it and it's similar for the other teams.

Next question, he says Cameroon will be a tough game.

Q3 - Where is Adebayor
Six: It's an issue for the Togo FA. Right now I am told he will arrive but I don't know any more than that.

Q4 Will you be happy to include him even if he hasn't trained with the squad.
Six: We'll see. Regarding his situation, I will consult the Togo FA.
