The problem with people like Durham is they live off opinions. They are never answerable for those opinions. If Durham knew a tenth of what he thinks he knows about football, he'd be managing a League Two club trying to win matches and build a career. The fact is he's a radio jock who's quite good at being provocative and he gets paid for that. Fair enough. But he wouldn't last 10 minutes in a dug-out, since he knows nothing about man management or real football. He makes a dozen ridiculous comments a week. We only remember his opinion about AVB because we're Spurs fans. But he talks tripe about Arsenal, Chelsea, etc, as well. His job is to provoke fans to listen, get angry, phone in, whatever. His insight is worth jackshit but would we have a post dedicated to Ronnie Irani ?

If you take every single Bale goal away then Spurs would have finished 9th instead of 5th. One man team? Bollocks.
Big difference between 5 th and 9 th .That ignores also the fact that to neutralize Bale often teams would put 2 players on him reducing their own attacking capability and taking markers away from other players. Plus I assume he had a few assists. Not quite a 1 man team but would we have got anywhere near CL without him ?

Agree, but that asks the question, why didnt any of our other players step up and use the extra space to score?

So how come we would have come 9th without Bales goals?

If Bale wouldn't have played, we would have someone in replacement. It's stupid to just take away Bale's goals and say we'd finish 9th. He was part of first eleven.

If you take away Bale's goals then you should take away RVP's, Rooney's Mata's,etc, etc, etc.

Put things in to perspective for me. Take out all the top goalscorers from every team and then tell me where we would finish?

Plus, if we didn't have Bale last season - we would have had Soldado, Capoue, Paulinho, Lamela, Chadli and Willian to make up for it.

Agreed that just taking away his goals doesnt prove anything.
The point I was trying to illustrate is that although, Dempsey/efoe/Siggi scored a resonable tally each, Double making Bale didnt open the floodgates for other to score, we were heavily reliant on Bale to win games.

Hopefully this season, Soldado will chip in with 20+ and we will get goals from many more players.

Sorry mate aleady replied to apprentice above.
Not argueing, mainly stateing need of more goals from elsewhere, and think your right about the new comers chipping in with more goals. All of the above look a threat.

Clearly he means that it's the signing of the summer because he hopes it keeps Murray off the TV. Either that or the previous midday host was really poor.

Not sure if he ever analysed anything on MOTD2 though

Living in the US we get Talkport afternoon and early evening shows on Sirius satellite radio every day. We dont get BBC sports radio or anything else. We used to get a daily football show on Fox Soccer called Fox Soorts News and a couple of times a day Sky Sports News . So we had 3 football news / talk shows. We get plenty of live Prem. matches , plus our own match of the day. But FSN and SSN have been taken away since NBC took over the live matches this season and now Fox Soccer shows almost entirely re runs of old matches again and again. So Talk Sport via Sirius is the only news / talk football shows we have. So pople like Durham , Gough and Saggers are our daily bread for keeping in touch with , for instance, the transfer news. Other thn the internet. And there are Times that listening to a British show however biased it is , is something to enjoy ! Night times we get US experts Tony Meola and John Harkes putting a US perspective on world soccer but to be honest if you think Talk Sport is bad i wouldnt tune in to thaem !
