I think Alli needs dropping for a couple of games. Yesterday he was too concerned with pushing opponents and playing the big man. Him sitting it out for a few weeks might bring him down to earth for a while and make him a better player. Yesterday he just wasn't effective enough.

I don't mind him being an aggressive fucker, I quite like that quality in players all over the pitch, but he needs dropping because he's just not playing very well or offering enough. He's only 19, he's got a great attitude and character and clearly some ability, but like a few of our players - and something prevalent in this thread, the poll about 433 - I think he's only ever going to be truly viable in a 433. You can't have the non purely defensive CM averaging 25 successful passes a game, it's pitiful, he's not got the tight space, technique and composure and peripheral vision to play the 10/ACM. I think he needs to be played in a CM3 where he ill do a bit of everything - he's tenacious, he passes simply, but has more license to bomb on - which is his forte - without compromising the midfield or bumbling around getting in the way of the attackers like Kane.

Not completely saying he's like him but lampard was going through on MNF last night his role in the Chelsea team, how he enjoyed playing and how he got his goals etc. He mentioned there are no English players like him nowadays except for someone like Alli. It kind of back up what you are saying here. He was only talking about himself but I couldn't help thinking of Alli when he was talking.

I really, really, really don't want Leicester to win the title. I don't want them to finish in the top four either.

I know it would be 'a victory for football', an 'underdog fairy tale', and 'better than seeing one of the big teams winning', but fuck it...I'd be overcome with jealousy and envy.

It would also likely fuck the Premier League in their scrap to retain their 4 Champions League places.

Leicester simply do not have a team that could compete on two fronts and would probably bottle it in the CL group stages which would severely damage the coeffecient rankings.

That's a good point.

Do you think that would do more harm to that co-efficient than our persistent lack of challenge for the Europa League though?

...yes?

We actually beat teams in the group stages. They wouldn't.

Or was that a rhetorical question?

No I was being serious.
English teams don't usually worry about the EL and therefore don't try to win it. This is also hurting our chances of having 4 teams in the CL in the near future.
We do at least have 3 teams left in both competitions now with Utd coming down to join us and Liverpool.

Hadn't actually considered that.

Mind you, the way things are going they'll probably win it and get bought out by owners that make Man City look like a reserve pub team.

Even when they don't try and win it they tend to be able to stroll through the group stages and lose later. Leicester would likely get killed in the group stages of the CL.

So yes them being poor in the CL would be worse than us not winning the Europa league.
