Leicester are built for ceding possession and hitting with pace.. would probably be quite decent in the CL

Everyone was saying we were going to muck up the coefficient when we qualified, usual plastic big club fan crap, then we surprised everyone and did pretty well...

I think they'll not do well because their squad size will not be able to handle all the added games. They're really relying heavily on a few select individuals, injuries or fatigue could really derail their run of form imo.

Not to mention players like Mahrez are almost 99% likely to get poached this summer.

It would also likely fuck the Premier League in their scrap to retain their 4 Champions League places.

Leicester simply do not have a team that could compete on two fronts and would probably bottle it in the CL group stages which would severely damage the coeffecient rankings.
Here's a really unpopular opinion then:
We should average out a team's last 3 season points totals to determine which teams represent us in the CL.
If Leicester can stick in the top 4 or there abouts for 3 years, only then they qualify.

OK, both us and Liverpool would have missed out on our recent visits, but that surely proves the point that neither side had the strength and depth and finances to have a persistent presence in the CL.
The premiership is better represented by the traditional clubs that might be having a crisis, but can usually quickly spend their way out of the problem.

Unfortunately those sides have been struggling as well.

to go where? A different team in the CL?

Added TV revenue and CL revenue should allow them to keep players at least until next January.

Yeah, they'll get poached, better revenues or not.

Happens all the time, look at what happened to Atletico when they won La Liga and made the CL final.

Heung Min Son left a CL team for us.

CL isn't the be all end all that Sky Sports make it out to be. Not to mention the revenues still won't make them able to compete wage wise with the big guns.

Yep. A lot of people here need to understand the difference between a trend an isolated incident. A lot of posts aren't so much unpopular opinions as they are moaning and whinging because we lost and the fact that we did some things poorly in that loss

So really, after a loss, this isn't a place to post unpopular opinions, but rather a place to moan and sook under the refuge of the thread title.

When this thread started I initially hoped it would dilute from the idiocy we see (from a very few posters admittedly) in the mainstream of Spurs Chat and only be populated by a few posters, a safe haven for berks. Its actually becoming a wear your idiocy on your sleeve like a badge of pride thread…….Actually participating in it should leave anyone sensible feeling like they need to stand under a cold shower for half an hour :D

How wrong, yet at the same time how right could I have been?

If only @ShaunL84 had started his "Lets get Jose' thread in here, now there's something that was crying out for some immunity :p

Why not just have the Champions League for CHAMPIONS only.

Now that's a novel thought

Even when they don't try and win it they tend to be able to stroll through the group stages and lose later. Leicester would likely get killed in the group stages of the CL.

So yes them being poor in the CL would be worse than us not winning the Europa league.

Who cares? If end of the season we're not going to be in top 4 I honestly hope Leicester will be. Current teams doesn't perform any better in Champions League so it would be interesting to see if Leicester could do something similar (reach top 8) that Spurs did a couple of years ago.

2011-2012: Manchester City (3rd) & Manchester United (3rd) in their groups.

2012-2013: Manchester City (4th) and Chelsea (3rd) in their groups.

2013-2014: WOW.

2014-2015: Liverpool (3rd) in their group.

2015-2016: Manchester United (3rd) in their group.

Because we could still hope to be top 4 in the future. Leicester making it could very quickly make it a "top 3".

Unpopular opinion - Chadli should replace one of the current front 3 because goals is what we're missing, even if he is a luxury player.

We need to sell Chadli in January (I don't think he'll fit in now) and bring through Onomah in earnest.

Not sure if you're serious...

That's definitely what we should be doing in january, selling players in our squad that can score goals. We're just overloaded with goalscorers.

Now is the time to get your amnesty's off when we win, not when we lose.

It's too easy having a moan at the club and projecting things you don't like when we have suffered a reverse because the chances are most people will fill aggrieved and look to blame someone/something but do it when we have won a game if you choose to stand by it.

I think Chadli should be sold. Not because I don't rate him, I do, but Eriksen and Lamela are nailed on and then we have Son, Pritchard, Onomah and that other guy plus Dembele, Mason and Alli who can all play there. That's 9 for 3 positions, we're well covered. Someone has to be moved on, and it should be Chadli.

Sell a player who was the 3rd highest scorer last season?

We need payers like him in the team because if he's not playing he will up his game and if he does play he will increase the competition, if he signs a new contract it's a win/win.
